Never mind, my spastic skills are better than yours, got it sorted

Maybe you should change the title of this thread to Ask Gimp Mask

I'm interested in showing the GPU temps for my ATI card on my desktop for the next week or so. Back in uni I had a widget type thing that told me everything (drives, cpu, ram etc) but can't for the life of me rember what it was called.

Any suggestions on widget type software (to run on XP 64bit)?

Free, but as I say I only really care about the GPU temp for now.

Ta!

The young pretender steps up to the plate, but its a swing an a miss.

Sorry Gimp, the app had no reference to graphics cards, didnt seem to have any ability to send the data to the desktop, and was pig ugly.

Any other suggestions people? Something simple, clean, which can produce a temp figure in a top corner of one of my screens?

Damn son, completely missed the most important bit aboout the GPU temp

But in my defence, the gui may be ugly, but u can attach small widgety type bars to your desktop that show the ram, processor, internet speed etc etc.
Has some o.k. features in it.

No problem, I'm just keen to keep an eye on my GPU temp in one monitor while a game plays in the other so I can tweak the fan speed as low as possible.

I know I could run the ATI tool in the second window, but having a neat small app, with maybe CPU and RAM info as well would be good.

Anything else from anyone?

Posted by valvehead on 12-12-2008 08:12 PM:

Everset Ultimate Edition is good at keeping track of temp's.
You can chose what hardware you want to monitor and it shows the value in the system tray, or you can just run it windowed and it shows everything about your cpu, ram, etc...

::It's not exactly a small app though, but it only takes up about 20mb memory.

Understood m8. When you're an ugly bastard such as yourself, you have to be at your girls beck and call or she might leave you. Then you will have to mooch through BBW sites for another few years to get someone to have sex with.

Hopefully the harrowing images of her bloodstained and cum-covered corpse will haunt your dreams till the day you die.

What images? Pretty sure she's propped up in the back room or closet so he can bring her out for "Family Night" every once in awhile.

This muppet's plan didn't quite come together towards the end...

My question is, assuming you have a standard two seater aircraft and at standard altitude (2000-5000 feet maybe?) you simply let go of all the controls (without using autopilot), how long would you have before the plane

A) Crashes?
B) Starts falling in a way where you cannot make it out of the plane?

This one isn't really possible to answer. You can find references to other planes (such as JFK Jnr's) that crashed from an altitude of about 5000 feet within a couple of minutes but otherwise it comes down to aerodynamic drag and how quickly the plane reaches terminal velocity (which will also be affected by factors such as "are the engines still running?" "is it nose-down or in a flat spin?"). If it's nose-down with the engines running you aint gonna get much change out of two minutes.

As for when it becomes impossible to parachute out; Yet again it depends on how the plane is falling. Assuming you can jump out, you need to jump out before the last 1500 feet as most main parachutes take 600 to 1200 feet to open. The reserve parachute can open in less than 400 feet but you still have to be slowed... As such the reserve parachute absolute minimum would be around 700 feet.
