just finished the movie, great audio, decent video. video hue and satration still have improvement potential, should spend more time on post prodution. High quality release over all. Oh, and the partial sub is quite annoying.

very nice release, strikingly reminicent to videocd/centropy in quality (hmmmm...)

pic is nice and widescreen, sharp, with pretty solid colors. a bit of a blur on fast motion, but about as good as TS can get. sound is really amazing... from the sample, it has alot of little details that show up when you blast your speakers. very nice, no hiss at all, clear as a bell. some of the best TS sound I've heard.

movie was solid too. overall a fantastic release.

8.5/9.5/8

I'm curious, is it just me or does this shaky camera bull shit piss anyone else off. I don't know the exact name of the stupid cop show that does this, but i can't stand it. What happened to the days of filming with a still camera. Ohhhh i get it, if you zoom in the camera pointlessly and shake it a little, it will somehow make a scene more intense? Bull shit, all it does is make me dizzy. I hope this trend dies, and soon.

I'm not sure if this is the show you're thinking of but the cop show The Shield on FX does that bullcrap.
ugh, i couldn't even watch a whole episode as the camera work made me sick, the zooming in, abrut moving, makes the show look more like a homemade cop show than a professional tv drama.

About the quality. looks like the same source that videocd was getting theirs from, 7/9/8.
One thing i noticed about these "good" TS of late is that they're sharpness and color doesn't compare to some of the ones we've gotten in the past. came across a old TS of sea biscuit, DAMN! if it wasn't for the cropping i would have guessed a screener, colors and sharpness were amazing, not dvd but better than vhs->vcd. didn't have the typical uneven lighting and tinted colors. I love these TS we have now but just surpried that I forgot how we've had ones looking that good a long time ago.

PS if you want english subs, get one of the cam releases, parents dont read french so I screen grabbed all the subs from the CAM release and printed up a nice translation sheet for them =)
Only about 15 scenes total of subs and all the text adds up only to about a small paragraph total.

I would like to say this one time, and I won't mention it again about this"new" group, then I will post my comments on the movie's quality. I am convinced that this new group has some ties to VideoCD. I just watched the entire release (which I do EVERYTIME I POST ABOUT RELEASES ON HERE, UNLIKE MANY PEOPLE WHO POST A REVIEW BASED ON THE SAMPLES, LAZY FUCKAS) and this group's quality SMACKS of VideoCD's. If I were told that this group is VideoCD under a differernt name, I'd have no problem believing it. Either they have the same silver supplier, or they have someone from VideoCD that works for them. In any event, this group's quality is WICKED. Both video AND audio are both on the level that many of us have been "spoiled" by as of late.
Quality of this release is definitely on the upper levels. Audio is from a crisp, clean feed, and video is clear, allthough a tad bit cropped. Bitrate was increased to DVD, 4500 kb/s and played on my standalone. I didn't even notice the motion blur that many of you spoke of. As a matter of fact I don't remember seeing any artifacts at all. The camera jiggled around quite a bit, even on some of the talking scenes, but it wasn't the supplier's camera, that's the way the movie was actually filmed. If you see it in the theater, it does the same thing. It's that "kinetic action" type of filming style. When Russian was spoken, the subtitles were in French. That's no big deal, as there wasn't enough Russian spoken in the movie to make that much of a difference.
To the group "maVen" (or whoever you are), you guys are top notch. You appear out of NOWHERE and produce releases that are up to par with the big boys. My hat goes off to you and I look forward to seeing MANY MORE quality releases from you guys!

It's really too bad that we can't donate something to these groups for basically risking jail time by taking the time to come up with these top quality releases that allow us users to keep a little bit of extra money in our pockets by not having to go to the movies EVERY weekend, and instead watching these things in the privacy of our homes. I know they do it for "fun" and all that, but just like sites like this one give us the option to "donate" if we like the free service they provide for us, they should have some sort of way where certain release groups have a way that we can donate some cash flow through Paypal or whatever. But I'm guessing that with the "delicacy" of this whole movie issue, that's just another way that they can be traced. Too bad. I'd be 1 of the 1st in line to donate to some of the release groups. Give'em something for their hard work, and good quality, cuz the bottom line is, these guys really are giving us GOOD QUALITY movies, and they ARE working HARD to give it to us QUICKLY, like within a couple days after it hits the theaters. What more can our lazy asses ask for?

Video - 7.8
Audio - 9.5
Movie - 5.5 (Sorry people, this movie didn't really float my boat, but then again, I didn't like the 1st one either).

yes, they do have ties to VideoCD, it's 35MM, maVen obviously has something of great value to offer 35MM to get them to share suppilers with them, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a big drop from VideoCD and a rise out of this group. I am X, as for you hypothesis that its possiblly the same group, possible? yeah, but I doubt it, its just the same sources I bet through connections through 35MM.

edit ::i think i already posted on quality, if not , video is 8, audio is 8, not perfect, but most defintely enjoyably watchable, as for the film, I fell into the hype and got very disappointed from it as most sequels end up doing, i hope the third installment is a litttle better.

Posted by gurry on 07-27-2004 08:31 AM:

Not watched the whole movie but from the bits Ive seen this is a great release. Especially as its not out in th eUK for ages yet.

give it

Video - 8
Audio - 8.5
Movie (from what I have seen so far) 8

That may well change once Ive watched it all. I have high hopes for this movie.

I agree. The service these guys provide to use for free is just
awesome. I'd donate in a heartbeat.

which is why all these scene kiddies who go around slamming
stuff because it's not their circle jerk favorite group need to
just STFU. I'll take a nice release regardless of who provides it.

could you please all shut up about this "OMG! I THINK I'M SO GREAT BECAUSE I THINK THIS IS THE SAME PEOPLE AS V-CD!!111" it has no effect on the release quality. if they wanted to make a statement about who they are, it'd be in the nfo. until it is, shut up about it.
