Its a re-encode, maybe Lexus are the ones who re-encoded I wouldnt like to say.

But both of them are from the same source...

You can see it for yourself, I deleted the lexus copy from my pc, but you just have to look for people on the screen and you can see them in both versions.

Lexus does have a diffrene though in that it is missing 30 seconds (if that) when Ford & Dent are taken to the Vogon captain, Lexus dosent have that, but CTP does....

End of the day one of the two are a re-encode, or the came from the same source.

Just adding DTS (digital theatre sound) can be 5.1, 6.1, and 7.1, and can be EX and ES, and so can "5.1" (wich can actually be 5.1 - 7.1 (ES, EX) with additional speakers such as 4 backs and a "Prescence" speaker).

HA DTS, the size of true DTS sound would be larger than the svcd cd itself, ive been laughing for yrs about the so called DTS sound on a SVCD, only true DVD's have REAL DTS 6:1 or better sound

Congratulations, you're an idiot.

He has a point PHO. Although it is possible to source DTS tracks onto SVCD, it is still nowhere near an actual DTS soundtrack on the SVCD (at least with the telesyncs from before 2 months + ago). It will sound good, but it aint close to digital. It was ticking me off hearing the mention of DTS and telesyncs all the time and posters misinturpereting things they read off the front of their DVD players.

Posted by pHo on 05-04-2005 08:20 PM:

yes, but did anyone EVER say the sound on the disc was an ACTUAL dts track? no. nobody worth fucking reading anyway.

and DTS stands for Digital Theater Systems. sigh.

What a major disappointment!!! If you want to watch HHGttG, get the 1981 BBC series! The Planet Factory scene was rather visual, but didn't come close to saving the movie! If Doug Adams were dead, he'd be rolling over in his grave! Tomorrow's Thursday... Definately won't watch this on a Thursday! If you enjoyed this flick, read the book (or re-read it) it'll ruin the movie for ya!

On to the review (so I don't get a 500 word essay from N$)

V7 - Video washed in bright scenes, but otherwise fine...
A6 - Can't get by that center channel stuff... Now that I know about it its rather annoying! (Didn't expect DTS, but direct would have been nice...)
M4 - See above

Um.. Douglas Adams is dead.

As for rolling over in his grave, doubtful. I'm guessing you missed the part where it says "Screenplay by Douglas Adams"?

I still think it's funny that people actually compare the film to the other versions. Adams himself thinks it's funny that no version of HHGTTG matches any other version. The film is just continuing the tradition, and that's the way he wrote it.

Just for clarification. Digital Theater Sound® (DTS®): is the company that developed the DTS Digital Surround. Which stands for "DTS (Digital Theater System)" kind of confusing huh?

Movie: Nothing that hasn’t already been stated.

7/7/5

Best centropy release for a good while, though not as good as their previous stuff, it's still an excellent TS

The sound is not too bad considering there's a few sound effects missing, it doesn't spoil the movie, still watching it now

8/7/x

Good copy, lousy movie

Video: 8 (a tad too bright and washed out in some scenes).

Audio: 8: An annoying hum was obvious during uiter moments.

All in all, a very nice release. Thanks!

Now the movie: Loved the books, radio plays and TV series. This one was a confusing mish mash and wandered all over the place, leaving out several important elements: 6

Has anyone else noticed that the audio to this is just the "center"(strong vocal, weak effects) track and the videocd version has the "surround"(loud effects, weak vocal) tracks?

Yep i also found the Hum was really annoying & prefered the talking on the earlier copy but fx to loud? (not sure which one but picture was a bit too bright on that one).

I loved this movie but I enjoyed it at the cinema more. This is mainly because the audio was at the right balance.

Video: 8.2
Audio: 5.0
Movie: 9.7
