-- Star Wars Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith - WORKPRINT - ViSA (http://forum.vcdq.com/showthread.php?threadid=62954)
Good release.. kinda
Okay, yeah, definite AR problems. I'm not sure why this release was dumped to such a crappy format, especially for widescreen material. And the constant bitrate just kills it, especially on a DVD. There's just plain no reason for CBR encoding to be used on a DVD, period.
As far as the nuke reasons....
Bad AR: Well duh. Definitely bad AR. If the workprint was a low-resolution workprint it could have been exported at Half-D1 A.K.A. CVD resolution using letterboxing and still been a DVD-R. Hell, with VBR encoding and 192kbps AC3 audio chances are it would have fit on a Mini-DVD. (P.S. The proper AR is 2.35:1, for any of you who are going to recode it before watching)
Wrong Format: *buzzer* Sorry, try again. Allow me to enlighten some of y'all on DVD specs, because apparently a bunch of you fell asleep when they discussed this: 352x240 MPEG-1 Video A.K.A. VCD resolution is in fact a valid DVD resolution. True, it's a really crappy resolution, but it's valid all the same. This is still technically a standard DVD, as the audio and video are both in spec.
Video: 7 - it's a decent transfer, but the choice of the VCD format with CBR encoding kills it. Try again at 352x480 MPEG-2 with letterboxing, guys; that'll look fine.
Audio: 8 - 224kbps mp2 audio... nothing special here. Unfortunately the equalization seems to be a little off, as certain high range noises make my ears itch. (literally)
Movie: ? - Haven't watched it all the way through yet. I feel the urge to convert it to something with the proper AR first.
weak
This is a crap job. Sure it's ok for what it is. But the way it was done is 1/2 ass.
If the disc doesn't play in your unit it's because an mpeg1 was used & forced to dvd format. The audio is mpeg1 which would explain why you might get video but no audio on a set top dvd player.
I re-encoded that video & audio to the proper formats & it works fine in a set top player. The audio needs to be mpeg2 48k.
If your gonna put your time in, atleast do it more than 1/2 ass. There is only 1 way to do something, thats the RIGHT way.
I do give props on the speed of the release.
7/8/?
Decided to go for this release.
I edited files to say all 16:9, 720x480 resolution, automatic letterbox.
Played back fine on my xbox.
Picture was fine. A bit blocky. But colorful, bright, no dark spots.
Sound was fine. Direct.
Havent watched entire movie. I was having too much fine fixing ar..hehe
grab this release, fix ar. u are set to go!
Not a bad copy of it really. Why they released it in the format they did beats me lol
Deffo the best out the 3 recent episodes of Star Wars

awesome release besides the timers..which really aren't a big deal considering how early this release is.
those of you saying the 1/2 ass job the ripper did...my guess is he had no time to do a good enough job, he probably swiped the disc, threw it in ripped it and put it back as soon as possible..no time to perfect it! i would not say half ass..i would say the ripper has balls! congratulations Visa!
audios good no complaints there for me..
video: some fair amounts of pixelation but i noticed it less when watching on a standalone then on the pc,
aspect ratio issue..this fixed it very nicely and takes all of less then a minute to do.. "Star Wars Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith WP DVDR-ViSA Aspect Ratio FiX-iND"
ripped the vts folder with DvdDecrypter, overwrote the bup and ifo files that came with the fix and then burned with nero..DONE no time whatsover.
all in all im VERY grateful for this release, although i did go to the theatre for the midnight showing, then again tonight (friday) and me and some buddies are planning to go again saturday..w00t!
THEN, i plan to get my DIY lcd projector up and running and having a Star Wars marathon at some point in time with all 6 movies! very excited...
Just finished watching had a couple of stops and resat scenes but I guess that goes with a workprint got used to counter and all in all A-9 V-9 M-9
I Think this one is almost perfect for a workprint when u get the ratio fix to replace the lost 16x9 picture. I Watched it all the way through twice after seeing it at the theatres and by rating as a workprint i would have to give it
Video - 9
Audio - 9
Movie - 9
BTW: Does anyone actually post to rate the movies anymore ?

No Audio?!?
I recently got a copy of the ViSA release and I was unable to get the audio to work...infact I went into the CD and there were no audio files present...am I missing something or is the audio possibly encoded into the video and just wont play on the Nero show player?!?
Seen all the releases, read my post for the best iMO
For everyone who has got visa's or any other one floating around this one is the best so far imo and I've seen 4 different versions that were all quality, but this one is the best.
