Rated on a scale of
10= DVD or digital source quality
1= steaming pile of dung

video= 6.5 (clear video, did not see any major artifacting, way to much red hue) Over all very watchable

Sound= 6.5 (clear audio, only noticed a few spots with some distorted sound, only a few spots with desync issues) Again very watchable

Movie= n/a (not my place to rate what I thought of a movie since tastes will vary..) however do yourself a favor and go see it at a movie house its well worth the price of admission.

The slight desync I heard bothered me less than the agressive use of the red hue button...but a few tweeks on the old tv set and presto a watchable movie, worth it if you can't stand the timer in the smack dab middle of the movie.

A descent release!!

I dont understand why this was nuked? I put all 3 mpg's on one dvd and I did notice a slite out of sync issue but slight. This movie and rip were great, if you dont have this rip wait for is the dvd rip

8/8/9

::EDIT:: Codec packs BREAK PC's!! All you need is an MPEG2 codec or FFDShow - Neversoft::

"10= DVD or digital source quality

ah thats a big negative sir! lol you see you cant get DVD quality from an SVCD mpeg-2 encoding...ah, yeah *cough*

anyway

few sync problems noticed on cd3 but it was only for a moment and since most of cd3 is fighting, you cant really tell if there are any other sync issues because it wouldnt be enough to look any different then the sound.

8(vid was a little dark but tv fixes that just fine)

7.5(audio had sync issues, but where they were didnt really matter)

9(whoever bad mouths this movie is just too slow to understand the story as a whole in star wars, if ya dont pay attention to them all without crying then you wont get the full effect)

::No matter how misguided someone may be, your mission is to post about the quality of the release. NOT the quality of his review. -K::

Just too dark

I wish the WP hadn't come out, otherwise I would have enjoyed this rls much more. It was just too dark. 5/6/8

Excellent Quality
8/8/10
But can someone please tell me what the text says in the start the film? I know it's in Russian, I'm asking what the English words would be.

Posted by tigerwlf on 05-24-2005 06:27 AM:

The dark picture is easily fixed by running it through vegas and adjusting the brightness just slightly couple of points.

The audio really needed to be adjusted it appears to come from a mono source and low frequency one, so bump up the frequency and give a better channel separation.

but with just a couple of tweaks it kicks.

Its watchable in its original format (its in pal so those of us in the ntsc countries will need to convert anyway if you wanna watch it on the tube).

8,5,9.

the fight scene with dooku had to be the best (think I spelled his name right).
it gave me that chills reminding me of luke in ROTJ.

Have to see this in the theatre.

films a little outa sync but not too bad, film was very entertaining however Lucas cant direct to save his life and should have handed the trilogy to better directors

he makes all 3 films look like power point presentations

Out of sync + speed issue

Release is okay, but honestly I like the workprint better. Sure, the workprint was encoded a-la ass, but this is encoded in the wrong freakin' framerate. I did a quick compare with the workprint source and confirmed it: the movie has been sped up so it's 25fps. TUN may be able to get away with this on Telecines of films like Hitch, but on the third Star Wars? C'mon guys, do it right. I realize 80% of the world viewing audience uses PAL, but the film was shot in NTSC format.

The video quality was poor, needed to be run through a few filters before release. I didn't notice the out-of-sync stuff that much, but it was there.

Video: 5 -- Stop being lazy and filter your video, then encode at the proper f%$#ing framerate.

Audio: 7 -- Out of sync, not that much better than what the workprint had. Possibly worse.

Movie: 9 -- It was pretty cool, even if Samuel L. Jackson can't handle a lightsaber properly. Too bad the previous two were steaming piles.

As for the release- 8/ 8 / 9 1\2. Yes it was dark. as for theLucas remark. Give me a break. Can't direct to save his life? WTF? I'm not trying to start a mini war here but go to http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0000184/ . Lucas made Indiana Jones, THX 1138, and American Graffiti to name a few. Sure he's made some stinkers in his time (radioland murders, what the hell was that), but "he cant direct to save his life." BWHHAHAHAHAH. Straight to the institution for you buddy. Your gone!

:: George only wrote indiana jones, they're directed by Steven Speilberg
:: This thread isnt for your faggot bickerings, comment on the release or get the fuck out. -D
:: P.S. George Lucas sucks.

Video quality is the worst of the bunch. Poorer quality than the workprint releases.

Audio is clear but has almost non-existent bass.

Movie: Was Palpatine great or what?

BTW, ripped the MPGs from the BIN/CUE files a couple dozen different ways. Reencoded video/audio to DVD format then burned with Nero. Somehow the sync problems are totally fixed. I can't recreate the steps I took tonight. I was going crazy.

russian source, crazy red tint, a couple sync issues, its cropped to hide russian subs, kinda dark, pic is worse than the WP (IMO)
video 5
audio 7
movie 8

Thanks to TUN; your effort is much appreciated!

You gotta see this one in the theatre... One of the few releases well worth the money...

Posted by kingcyrus on 05-24-2005 06:08 PM:

yeah should be closed, this realease is fine cept for the cropping and i didnt notice any sync issues(but i only watched cd1 and 3) 6/8/10

Posted by afnipoo on 05-24-2005 06:37 PM:

i put all cds together and noticed no sync problem as for the russian opening i took the workprint opening and joined the files to fit together and made it into a dvd and no problem at all.

Great job TUN! Much better then the workprint, The video is nice if you watch it on a tv and not on your computer screen. Here are my ratings (;

9/8/9

Thanks for a great release TUN! And keep them coming

dissapointing. C'mon guys this is star wars! it deserves something special, not just a bog standard cropped russian TC. Its not the worst TC I've seen but its pretty far from the best. I'd say I've seen TS's that are better than this. Not what I want for a Star Wars film. The film on the other hand is f**king awsome!!!

Video - 6 (dark as shit, could barely see anakin burn and other dark stuff)

Audio - 8 (i listened through regular tv speakers so it sounded fine...only big ass systems would find somewthing wrong

Movie - 10 IMO, Star Wars is Jesus to me. Acting was OK, but everything else owned my un-soul

But seriously...is someone gonna fix this thing...I want to watch it best I can but I don't have the software/time/good computer to do this stuff. Many of you keep mentioning making it kick ass by fixing the pic and audio, why can't another group do this or one of you guys send it to a group or something.

i cant believe im reading this shit, you ungrateful little tosser

if you dont like it, then get off your moaning little fat ass and buy a telecine machine yourself, and get some direct audio, and see if you do any better, these groups are taking massive risks to release these films for free...yes for free!!! so stop your bitching because soon these groups will be going underground, and you will be left with sh1t cams...

you just cant please some people can you!!

anyway, i watched this through xbox media player on the tv...yes the tv!!! i cant understand why people comment on these releases after looking at them on their pc monitors....view them through the tv and then comment. yes, i had to turn the brightness up a little, and the coulour down on the tv a little for the red scenes, but hey, ive got a remote control that sorts that out with a few clicks on the controller.

basically, many thanks tun, keep it up,
infact, many thanks to all groups for putting your necks on the line for us movie watchers

:: See kids, THIS is a good example of what NOT to post. -K::

The onley complaint from above that bothers me is the prologue,
