-- 300 *XviD* - DVD SCR - NEPTUNE (http://forum.vcdq.com/showthread.php?threadid=75393)

if you want to improve the audio of this release before converting it to dvd to watch on your home theatre setup, here's what i did and it turned out great...

convert the .ac3 audio to .wav using BeSweet/BeLight or something along those lines. Then use Sony Soundforge with the following:
process > normalize > normalize using peak level @ -1.93db

hit ok, let it process and then save the new file. then convert it back to ac3 with the tool of your choice. i only used 192kb ac3 on my final dvd because 384 is pretty much pointless for a 2.0 mix especially in the case of this audio that has alot of cutoffs and clipping.

This is a Great TC screener, yeah the audio sucks and is very annoying when played on the PC, but i as some other people in here converted onto a DVD and when i play it back on my DVD players, the audio is just great, no carckling at all.

Props to Neptune for a fine realease

300 Scr-Neptune

Actaully You're all WRONG

Did you not notice artifacts as in 'Rocky Balboa' and many others lately or how they get subs direct onto movies

The simply anser is :

There all TV-Rip type captures. NOT direct Digital Rips.

So any artifacts or colour degradation is due to the CUPTURE MACHINE

Now you can all go out to play, you silly children

i watched this tonight at a mates place on a large HD tv with a kick ass sound system.

the picture quality was fantastic...seemed like it was a proper xvid
you could see in certain scenes where it was just a tad to dark, but otherwise you could hardly notice it once you got into the movie.

the sound was very good and didnt crackle at all.

awesome movie well worth watching

i really don't understand how anyone can think this is a 9v quality dvdscr.
it really is a nice TC.

here's a comparison i made with vlc:
the large (not HD) trailer from the apple site, and the sample of this release.

you will see how incredibly blurry this release is, with washed out colours and bad details in high and low brightness areas.

300 Xvid-neptune

NOTE:

The colours on this Xvid are fine just like the original, because it was done by the 'Sin City' film crew, and how weird the colur process was on that. Catch the current TV trailer for this then you'll see how close this is.

As for converting audio (or warping as it's known), make sure the audio software being used does'nt try to fix the 'PITCH' (or 'pitch control), allow the pitch to go up or down for the correct ntsc-pal warp otherwise a warbled effect will be heard especially on long sustained sounds (violins etc.)

Goldwave has an exellent warp feature in it's software.

You and the other guy(Bullet) have got your 300's mixed up . Not difficult as there are so many versions out there.

same here DapperDan...
this is the way the movie is supposed to
look...I've seen it in the theaters and
the movie looks the same!!!!

great screener I must say, but even the TELESYNC, which had a little credits, had music to go with it. This version doesn't seem to have the music with the credits. Maybe this is just me saying this because I liked the music in the credits, oh well. Movie is still # 1 at box office and to have a DVDSCR of it already, that's just, WOW!

Posted by pomh on 03-24-2007 11:00 AM:

I have experienced trouble authoring and burning this file to DVD. I got past the wait of the fil transfer, but the authoring tool only put out an hour and 28 minutes of movie, noticably not the whole thing. where is the mVs release, or the SWiNE release? I still want this DVDSCR/DVDR...

The colors are fine... because this movie was done by "the 'Sin City' film crew"? You have any idea how stupid this argument sounds? Just FYI, Sin City looks fine as a DVDRip, this one doesn't. It's quite good, considering the time this got released, but it's far from perfect, especially in the color and sharpness department.

5/3/7

This is compared to other DVDSCRs, since this is supposed to be one. I think the picture quality is mediocre at best, doesn't deserve a more than average rating - which 5 is supposed to be, IMHO. Audio crackles, this can't be above average anymore. Possible that this is fixable, but I'm not rating any distant possibilities, I'm rating this release. And audio for this release is seriously lacking - compared to other DVDSCRs, again.

Posted by yukichigai on 03-24-2007 01:49 PM:

Given the quality of the release I suspect that we may ALL be right.. and wrong.

If you remember back when R5s were announced they were specifically mentioned as "doing the same things a teleciner does, but with studio equipment," e.g. taking the movie and capturing digitals of all the reels, then turning that into a release. It isn't the only way R5s come out, but the only exceptions are leaked sources, pre-release "for your consideration" stuff, etc. Anyway, given the insanely high quality of the TC work, the various DVD->XviD artefacts you can vaguely pick up on, and the release source being called a DVD SCR I'm going to have to say that it is actually a Telecine-sourced *R5* and that Neptune must be one of the groups that doesn't support the designation.

That's my two cents.

ITS A TC aka Telecine,
Not and i repeat not a DVDscr.

Basically you call a TC a TC if its a TC
or a Cam a Cam, When? When its a cam.

You don't call the dude in the post office Bob because he looks like you uncle bob.
If his name is Fred, then call him Fred.

OK, back on my meds now.....

Here's the Definitive proof that this is a TC
anyone still in any denial or don't know what a Telecine is and to embarrassed to ask..
Google it.

Here's the Last frame, Don't believe? check it yourself...

The sound is indeed, pretty much terrible. I don't know how people can rate it an 8.

Can anyone tell me how to fix it in BeSweet ?

7/6/8

(rated as dvdscr - pretty sure it's a tc/r5)
