I'm just about to sell 5 out of my 6 guitars to clear some credit card debt but should also have enough left over to buy myself a Gibson Les Paul. I was planning on selling my "active" guitar (Line 6 Variax 700) until I turned round whilst wearing it and hit the door with it taking out a chunk of the lovely blue finish down to the bare wood.

Same thinking gone into the way the P rails work as line 6 .With both pots up you have P90 pickups selected and traditional les paul sound with one up one down you have rails pick ups and a nice rich strat sound with all pots down you have rails and P90
sound just blows you away.Pickups are bastard expensive tho.Saves the need for more than one guitar.

Oasis - Definitely Maybe
Oasis - Morning Glory
The Verve - Urban Hymns

Say what you like about Oasis, you can't deny the fact they influenced most of todays rock bands, not least Kasabian and are responsible for the last 10 years of attempted 'Brit Pop' imitators.

(someone may have already mentioned them, not reading through 5 pages of obscure(certainly not influential) bands to find out

You gotta be shittin us oasis are a beatles wanna be pop group verve are sound they had a big influence on oasis if you new anything at all you'd know that noel Gallagher started off as their road manager.Verves best album gotta be northern soul anyway and kasabian what a load of shit. What next you gonna say the fuckin spice girls are great.I 'm bettin you like steps as well.
And the imitators thing that's just the way it works one bands successful so the record companies put out a load of clones.Right now i can't tell any of them apart, seen some of them opening for real bands and their all shite.

I think early Pixies albums have been pretty influencial (Come on Pilgrim/Surfa Rosa particularly).

Frank Black has freely admitted that they followed a Loud/Quiet/Loud format for alot of their songs (so much so that a recent 'rockumentary' was called that) and that format is pretty prevalent in alot of todays indie/rock.

I'd also have to say that the Velvet Underground and Nico album appears to have been similarly influencial in indie music.

gezzer, I thought Noel Gallagher was a road manager for The Inspiral Carpets? I may be wrong, but I'm sure I read that somewhere.

Queen?
Dire Striaghts?
Iron Maiden?

I agree with cupid on the influence of Oasis. The first two albums influenced a whole generation of guitar based music. It might well have been a heap of shite bands, but there was no mention in the title of the thread that the influenced artists have to be good. So Morning Glory and Definately Maybe, by rights, should be in the list.

Queen I'll give you.
Iron Maiden, I might give you.
Dire Straits? I like em but I won't agree at all.

Oasis? No, just no. They imitated the fucking The Beatles. Just like White Snake or White Lion imitated Led Zep.

I guess since you grew up in the 90's and want to claim Oasis was influential to music be my guest. Just know that you're wrong.

Linnets I think I went to HS with the fag in your avatar.
