If your talking about VideoCD's proper i noticed that too - i couldnt encode CD1 or CD2 from mpeg2 > mpeg1 , encoded a few mins then TMPGenc locked up on me and gave me "not responding" errors. I thought it was just me ...

I thought this release was bloody damn good. Granted the B&W scenes are sometimes

blue and the colours go iffy now and then. Its still a nice release and I a fricken

good movie aswell

7/7/8

Posted by keebler on 04-20-2004 11:07 PM:

nuked why? this is a verry good relese.. black and white a little bright but the rest is great

8 video
8 audio
7 movie

Posted by Haku on 04-20-2004 11:11 PM:

Release is alright ,blue at begining for abit but fixes after that ,colour don't go bad that much ,think it went bad only a few times in the whole film and not for long.

Screen split is not that bad don't last for to long.

Also about the video cd release ,how can that be a proper for this ,haveing french or german subs in a large chunk of the film when the film is english audio is worse than having the screen split for a while.

Posted by moguth on 04-20-2004 11:17 PM:

i had the same lockup problem with TMPGenc
i reencoded it with mainconcepts mpeg encoder - without any problems - and pretty fast (2pass - mpeg2 - 480x576 - around 4 hours and the movie fits on 2 cd´s)

Posted by firefighter on 04-20-2004 11:29 PM:

TCR Copy = *Nuked*: See list of reasons why in previous posts - lots of errors.
VideoCD's PROPER = *Nuked* Out of Sync and 20 minutes of Subtitles are French.

Wait for REAL.PROPER or Screener my suggestion.

Or go with the CAM that hasnt been nuked yet

Posted by X400 on 04-21-2004 04:51 AM:

looks good perfect timing for the uncut vol1 to come out
7.5/8/?

and HERO is one of the worst movies ive ever seen almost worse then crouching tiger, almost

Posted by keebler on 04-21-2004 04:52 AM:

no errors on my copy all looked good only thing was the 3 cds.. even put this on dvd for a friend encoded just fine and yes ive watched the whole movie it didnt have any errors

Posted by BLUE-NEO on 04-21-2004 06:41 AM:

sucks that the videocd version has french subs. otherwise it looked amazing in quality. and the sound was damn near perfect.

but the tcr version should be nuked. I'm ashamed to even send my parents their copy. I told them just go to the movies and keep it deep in thought, because this is not a keeper...too many flaws.
The guy walking through the picture and too much color. But when I got to disc 2 and the screen flipped I said f..k it. Couldn't enjoy it.

5/7/10 TCR version

8/9/10 Videocd version... Video gets an eight because of the french subs. would have been a 9, because it looks that good.

Very Nice Release Def The One To Get... Unless you speak french & if so you proably already surrendered

Little bluish during the beginning B&W scene and seems to have a brightness & color saturation. CD2 has a short time with the bottom of the scene wrap'd to the top. Direct Audio is very nice. Props to TCR

7/9/7.5

Posted by SilentAssassi on 04-21-2004 09:07 AM:

Thats the only problem with the VideoCD releases. The Video and sound on them are perfect, some of the best TS work I have seen, but if a movie has subtitles in it, then you are fcuked if you don't understand french.

Just got this TCR release, the saturation I can fix, just turn it down with avisynth before encoding to DVDmpeg2, the blue and white instead of black and white I am not really bothered about, as long as the picture is watchable then thats all that matters.

How strange. Everybody elses copy suffers the framing problem for several minutes at the start of "The Last Chapter". You must be special... or maybe you fell asleep while watching and didn't realise.

Just finished whole rls.

Nuked or not...

Quality not bad, just the glitches become annoying, which really is just color issues and the 3min screen split... what can you do about the giant walking accross the screen for two seconds at the beginning?

Regardless, I'd rather have this version where I can read the subs, really needed during "The Bride's" training. Quality is good enough to hold me until a screener comes out. No real motion blur during the action, no sound issues. Nuked = BS. I seen FTF get away with non-nuked crap 10x worse than this.

Not to say that this is up to par with what TCR was releasing when they debuted . . . however, take away the screen split on CD2 and fix the color, and it pretty much looks like the old TCR.

6 (because of short screen split and colors)
8 (No issues with it)
9 (Just wanted a longer fight with Bill, rating is based on vol1 & 2 together, neither is better than the other, it's a continuation of the same damn story.)

A lot of things wrong with this release which have already been mentioned and debated. I would like to know why the VideoCD proper release isn't on this site yet.

Posted by cwg on 04-21-2004 01:33 PM:

7/7/?

this is from the SAMPLE, im downloading now. from the sample it looks very good in quality. i always take other revies with a grain of salt. there is no inbetween on this board, you either got release purist where basically nothing is good enough for them or you have the exact opposite, people flaming the boards with outragous ratings. sometimes without even watching the movie! in any event. we should all be greatful for the hard work people put into this for our enjoyment. dont take ANY release for granted...

Cause a few grps like VideoCD , HafVCD ... asked vcdquality to not list their movies. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. Mabey its because people dont read their nfo & send 1000 emails to them a day "How do i download your movie?" , "Would you like to join us here?".

Is it me or was that the clearest a guy getting up and walking across the screen has ever been shown? It guess it goes to show the quality of TCR's camera crew.
