I used to use the header trick myself although I bought an xbox and chipped it to save hassle (Best player on the market, samba shares mean I can watch my film within a couple of minutes of download without ever having to burn media.)

I posted a little harsh and maybe I should have read all the posts 1st I forgot the header trick. (Although the post I was responding to made it sound like re-encoding)

dvdrhelp.com has more info than you'll ever need!

What I should have said is I can't see the point re-encoding this to dvd.

(I didn't think people were that petit but I should have known.)

Again you dont seem to know what ur talking about, the "header trick" is only used to trick ur authoring program into thinking its dvd compliant standard...after its authored u set the sizes back to svcd standard otherwise u get big green bars. All in all u dont have a clue, so dont bother posting.

btw. xbox and ps2 both play svcddvd without being chipped, again u talk shit.
Think u should surf ur way over to dvdrhelp.com and do some reading.

Surely the header is to trick your dvd player into playing it. (Which not all players support.)

Manners and politeness cost nothing but you decide to be offensive. Chill out smoke, smoke some pot remember arguing on the net is like cheating in the special olympics.

I shall not bother posting in this thread again (or reading any new posts in it) you want argue take it to general discussion I check reasonably regulary.

Obviously since I chipped my xbox and have XBMC I don't need to worry about such things as the header trick.

"""Surely the header is to trick your dvd player into playing it. (Which not all players support.) """ WRONGGGGGGGGGGGGG

Well finally u understand ur wrong, why did u argue when u knew u were talkin out ur arse?
Guess ur just being petty, and whats the point in taking it to another thread..so u can lie some more and try to cause arguements?
Get on with ur life desertboy and stop being a dick.

As for this : "I shall not bother posting in this thread again (or reading any new posts in it)"
Stop acting like a 2 year old throwing a tantrum , just cause u were caught out telling lies.

Not all Xbox's play SVCD/VCD. Depends on the DVD Rom Drive. (ie Thompson doesnt play em) The Smasung Drive, will tho

no scene rules set is 100% enforced, and a lot of rulesets say its 120mins (lots of debate over a TEG 113min release before iirc), but its beside the point.. those specs are for DVD Rips. in all honesty, it looks fine on 2CD and i commend V-CD for doing the intelligent thing. (altho its still undersized! and they got the film name wrong!)

Yeah, I feel the same way. On a TS, going slightly under on bitrate is better than adding another CD and maxing out bitrate. There's only so much quality you can get out of a cam.

You are BOTH correct.
The header trick can be used in 2 ways.

1. To fool your DVD authoring program into thinking an MPEG is DVD compliant.
2. To allow DVD players to play SVCD if they don't support it by fooling it into thinking it's a VCD.

Both don't always work 100%

Although I must admit that reauthoring VCD/SVCD>DVD does save £££ on media (especially on 3 disc releases) - Just ask the Pirates at the CarBoot Sale.

LOL

This is a GREAT release BTW - (on topic Goddammit!)

Video 7 (slight cropping)
Audio 9 (fantastic!)
Movie 10 (did you expect otherwise? It's Doc Ock FFS!)

saw this release last night bloody brilliant film 10x better than the first much better effects

vid 9
aud 9
film 10

love videoCDs new intro

Posted by AJitator on 07-04-2004 05:22 AM:

people like to overrate releases. the picture has bad contrast and grainy texture. if 10 is perfect quality, then all your 9 and 8 votes are exaggerated.
