Review: DJ Cam - Cruisin' (2003) by Glenn Larson

As many of you on the forum know, my big musical taste lies in lounge and downtempo jazz music. Music for stoners, music for lovers, for hip-hop heads. That whole thing. You will also know i think DJ Cam is a total and utter master. This is not material by Cam, rather a collection of tunes handpicked by the man for your enjoyment.

On first listen you'd be forgiven for thinking this album was compiled in 1977 rather than 2003 as almost immediately from the moment you press play, your entire soul is injected with the most incredible laid-back jazz and funk sounding like it is straight from that era. The majority of these tracks are to many going to be by unknowns. But if you do take my advice and take a chance on this compilation, i beg of you, listen to track 4 Asha Puthli - Space Talk. Dim the lights, turn on your lava lamp, light some incense and roll a joint and start smoking and relax. This track is a pinnacle. An utterly immersive piece of luxury. Asha's searing vocal mixed in with the laid back groove is complete bliss and is guaranteed to make your smoking experience just explode in to utter utopia. Trust me. You'll love it.

The rest of this compilation (thankfully) follows allong a similar pattern. I usually have a handful of albums i like to keep by my side playlisted for my more relaxing moments or when i like to smoke. This compilation has become essential to me after just one listen.

Don't just take my word for it, go pick this one up today! (If only for Space Talk even. That track is amazing!).
