Acoustic solutions dvd players

Does anybody out there own an Acoustic Solutions DVD player?
I have had a DVD421 for about 6 months now, and so far it has played everything, dvd-r dvd-rw, svcds + vcds (secret menu to enable vcd playback) and all my mp3 disks. Recently, i tried to play some dvds that my friend picked up at a market, and it started makin a fuked up sound, like the disk was scratching against the inside of the player. It sometimes loaded the disk, then maybe later in the day, it wouldnt play it and just said 'Wrong Disk'. All original disks work fine, and my 'Backups' work fine - although sometimes they make the strange sound if i try to play them after failing to load the dodgy disks
But now im wondering why it does this with the dodgy dvds. Any ideas?
Does anybody else own an acoustic solutions player and have you experinced any problems?
