Not a joke, if you have advice thanx!

Hi People,

I have been having a crazy problem when I DL a flick from say IRC, what happens is I get the 1st half and then when I try to DL the second half the window will open and I will see the "requestin resume" on the bottom of the "get" window and then the window will go to 100% like I already have part2. Now since this started happening I at first thought it was a certain channel I was using and thier stuff was screwed up but then after a few times I realized that its me, now it has to be something like how the PC is reading the file, I went into "folders" and hit the default to try that but to no avail is there a similar default settings for files that anyone knows about?
Somehow, someway I affected this and I havent a clue as to when cuz its not something you would play with but I did need to find a trojan in a hidden folder not long ag so it had to be then.... any ideas may put me on the raod to remembering what I did or maybe this has happened to one of you??
People actually thought this was a joke in another forum and it isnt and its making me nuts, I have to take the "get" and put it into another folder and THEN I can get part2 so I know it is how its reading my files, I use Win-XP home edition so you know...thanx!!

Maybe try breaking up your "problems" into parts? So that we can understand them.

Ok,
Sorry if it was so long, when I grab a file 1 of 2 parts I cant get file 2 because the DL window just fills up to 100% like I already have it understand?
No matter what I do I cant get part of of any flick lately unless I move the first part of the flick to a diff folder.

Somehow I think my PC is reading the file (both parts) like it is the same file understand now and I tried resetting my files+folders to default on XP but nothing works. I cant complete 1 flick.

I think he means he's picking up two files from IRC:

movie1.somerelease.cd1.rar

and

movie1.somerelease.cd2.rar

It could (Not sure how) be getting confused by the .cd1.rar and .cd2.rar. The only thing I can suggest is opening Explorer (Windows key + E), tools -> folder options. Click on the "View" tab and untick "Hide extensions for known file types". Click ok.

I'm not sure if this changes how windows deals with files, I wouldn't of thought so but it's worth a shot. Only other suggestions are try a different/updated irc client. If you're using MIRC then try a newer version. Could be the way the client handles the files.

I'm also wondering if his mIRC is fucked or if he's using some stupid download script that's screwed... Try removing (and deleting) and reinstalling mIRC.

Turn off auto-resume. Delete the files off your HD. Start over.

YES ..............
YES Grinch, that is exactly what I was trying to get across and you did it so well, wow I should have thought to use an illustration but when your writing it all makes sense to you ya know? : )

Hmmn, another MIRC................ and no I dont have any scripts on my client, it was working just fine and all of a sudden...... no more part2's...when I try to get it the "get" window will act like the part2 is a resume?? I dunno but anyway I think you have a great idea about grabbing a new client altho I have my doubts............Im just in a holiday rut I guess.
