error message on instal

via ac97 audio chipset is not enabled on this system, please enable it first on the bios, then run again?

how do i do that?

I looked in the start up but didnt see where?

For entering BIOS you need to press [DEL] right after startup. Go over to the 'integrated peripherals'.
The manual states the mobo uses a VIA VT1617. Searching with google gives:
VIA AC97 audio driver package 6.80b

Applies to:
Via motherboards with integrated sound: VT1612A, VT1616, VT1617, VT82C686A, VT82C686B, VT8231, VT8233, VT8233A, VT8233C, VT8235, VT8237.

Requirements
Windows 95/98/Me/NT4/2000/XP

Hope this helps. GL.

I would imagine you'll still have to switch the option on in the BIOS. They let you turn it off so that you can install another sound card without getting conflicts.

If the option is switched off it won't activate the on-board sound even if it has drivers correctly installed.

correct - anything you disable in the BIOS will not function when the OS is loaded.
