I'm still waiting, I don't want to say anything about them before I know most/all of the facts.

But... I do love the movie posters, lol, Matrix Reloaded, then the poses they have with each character.

maybe they used similar sets for 2 & 3, thus saving some money on 3's budget?

anyone know why they are bringing both movies out in the same year?
By December 2003 or early 2004, there will be 'Triple Headers' at theatres; Matrix 1, then 2, then 3.

Producers wanted to try a BTTF effect..to keep people interested....It may work, with all the hype this movie is getting.

You can find out some news about the upcoming Matrix movies at Newsweek's issue a couple of weeks back:

http://www.msnbc.com/news/850165.asp

Posted by ReLoC on 01-22-2003 11:42 AM:

yea that newsweek article was very very good if your into the matrix. talks about in matrix "revolutions" the third installment, a 17 minute long battle sequence that cost around 30 mill alone. two thirds of the original matrix movie.
and in "reloaded" they built their own freeway, complete with exit signs and whatnot, for a chase scene. the freeway cost them 2.4 mill to build. the friggin budget on these movies was thru the roof and i expect that the movies will be... good.

and if u get a chance read the newsweek article quite good.

For me it was the plot that made the 1st film good (it made ya think for a change).

I've seen the trailer for No2 and it looks very action orientated (not a bad thing), but i just hope they have put some thought into the plot.

Matrix trailer during Super Bowl

A new 60-second teaser for Warners' sequels "The Matrix: Reloaded" and "The Matrix: Revolutions," revealing new shots of the pictures' major action sequences. After the Super Bowl, Warners will stop promoting the sequels together and instead focus on pushing each picture individually. Warners also used the 1999 Super Bowl to push the first "Matrix."

Agreed, it didn't hurt the first film too badly but he has a much different role in the new ones. That said I thought the SuperBowl trailer kicked some serious ass... lookin foward to the sequels

The Matrix VS Neuromancer

When I saw the first Matrix movie in theaters I was completely taken by surprise! I usually hate hollywood movies (asian cinema and Anime fan myself) but it was one of the best films I've EVER seen. I really love stuff like William Gibson's Neuromancer and Shadowrun etc. and I was just wondering if anyone noticed how influenced the makers of the Matrix were by these books? Obviously Neuromancer coined the idea of the Matrix (alternate computer online reality type stuff) back in 1984, but did anyone else notice how CLOSELY Trinity resembles the character of Molly in Neuromancer? Also there is a part in Neuromancer Case gets trapped online in a construct by an AI and has to try to figure out a way to wake up from the false reality. Anyway I just thought it was cool to see the man who envisioned the internet back in the early 80's get some cred now.

Neo & Trinity's Relationship in The Matrix Sequels
Saturday, February 15, 2003 6:05 CST

Entertainment Weekly spoke with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss about The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. The stars, who reprise their roles of Neo and Trinity, say that the action won't just come from dodging slo-mo bullets.

Love will be flying high for Neo and Trinity. "We share some time alone and express our love an intimacy for each other," Reeves said.

"In the first movie their relationship was very sweet and pure," adds Moss, "but this time the relationship really blossoms and becomes something beautiful."

I saw a vid of this game on a tv show last nite. It looks like a cut-down version of Max Payne...i.e. the usual jizzum a company throws out for a licensed game...if Joel spent that much cash on it i'll wager he will be looking to see who stole the money.

I could b wrong, but i doubt it.

What was known as "bullet time" was awesome in the first Matrix. They have a new effect though, and I believe it's "flying." Bullet time was awesome, but so many people imitated it (Scary Movie, etc.) I forgot the source of the place I found out "flying" would be the new effect.
Just a question, doesn't Agent Smith die? He comes back to life I guess, because this is a sequel. It wouldn't make much sense as a prequel because Neo took the pill in the Matrix, and he's part of their groupie in this one.

Nah Agent Smith is back didn't die. He just "died" in the first one (you know when an agent "dies" he just goes to another person). But now he's back and pissed off at Neo. He's got new features. He can now duplicate himself into many Smiths (as seen in the Super Bowl commercial).

Anyone see the new Animatrix short in front of Dreamcatcher? It's pretty damn awesome. It sets up the plot for the Matrix sequels so be sure to catch it.

Just saw that today, excellent animation and it just makes waiting for the movie that much harder , it's a shame it hasn't been released yet.. allthough it's not really a movie but I imagine the demand to see it would be high in the scene.

Wired Magazine-May 2003

If your a diehard Matrix fan, when the May 2003 edition of Wired hits stores, you should definitely buy it. The cover story "Re-enter the matrix" covers everything Matrix, from the premise to the video game." I got it in the mail today, and here's a caption about the premise I typed up. Article isn't availble at wired.com yet:
"Things have changed since 1999. In the last shot of the original film, Neo, played by ex-slacker Keanu Reeves, flew up out of the flame, demonstrating that his mental abilities had become stronger than the enslaving delusion of the Matrix. Now he's a full-fledged superhero, soaring over the skyline at thousands of miles an hour and making a rescue as trucks collide head-on. The bad news: Agent Smith, played by Hugo Weaving, is a rogue virus in the Matrix, able to multiply himself at will. And the last free human city, Zion, in a cave near the Earth's core, is under attack."
Also: "The team cranked up Alien, 2001, Verigo, Apocalypse Now, Koyasniqatsi (the movie with still images), and 20,000 Leagues Under The sea, along with documentary footage of car crashes, robotics manufacturing, 19th century submarines, glassblowers at work, the drilling of the Chunnel, the heavyweight bouts of Rocky Marciano, and the explosion of the Hindenburg."
"As the team tossed ideas around for one hellacious fight scene that became known in-house as Burly Brawl, Gaeta realized that the innovative technology he and his crew developed for The Matrix's ultra slo-mo action sequences would not be sufficient to bring the Wachowskis' new vision to the screen. These oft-imitated shots-now universally known as Bullet Time-required serpentine arrays of meticulously aligned cameras, and months of planning, for a brief scene featuring two or three actors. In the Burly Brawl, super-Neo would battle more than 100 Agent Smiths in an extended orgy of kung fu orchestrated by crack martial-arts choreographer Yuen Woo-Ping. To develop the technology needed for the Burly Brawl, Eon and Warner Bors, launched ESC, a visual effects skunk works in an old naval base across the bay from San Francisco. ESC ultimately produced more than a thousand visual-effects shots for the two sequels, and the company has operated in stealth mode until now. The word Matrix didn't even appear on the scripts' title pages; instead, they were tagged with a code name, The Burly Man."
"For Reloaded's blowout chase sequence-Trinity and a character called the Keymaker haul ass on a motorcycle to the nearest landline, past carloads of marauding bad guys-ESC constructed a quarter mile of new freeway on the naval base. Eventually, Gaeta enlisted more than 500 digital artists from a roster of cutting-edge effects vendors (including Sony Pictures Imageworks, Animal Logic, Tippett Studio, BUF Compagnie, and Giant Killer Robots) to create everything from shimmering swarms of Matrix code to thousands of vengeful robot "squiddies" burrowing toward Zion. But the Burly Brawl became Gaeta's personal obsession. Like many in the film industry, he has been talking for years about the promise of virtual cinematography, a confluence of technologies that would allow directors to sculpt actors' performances with the ease of tweaking a CAD file. The traditional ways of doing this, however, reduce the world to the kinds of data that computers easily understand, and the result often ends up looking like a glorified videogame. That wouldn't work for the Burly Brawl, a fight that erupts in a virtual prison indistinguishable from the real world."

*SPOILER ABOUT BURLY BRAWL BELOW*

..."If the dojo fight in The Matrix was a kung fu sonata, the Burly Brawl is a symphony. Neo tears the sign from the ground and wields it as a kendo sword, valuting pole, and battering ram. A woman walking by can't believe what she's seeing; suddenly her body is hijacked, she drops her grocery bag, and another Smith charges into the fray. Whole battalions of Smiths arive, mount assaults, attack in waves, scatter, regroup, and head back for more. In the thick of it, Neo is danicing, chucking black-tied bodies skyward, pivoting around the signpost, and using shoulders as stepping-stones over the raging river of whup-ass."

*I checked all my Georgetown university resources, such as Proquest, Sirs, Gale Research, Lexus Nexus, etc...and could not find this article anywhere. It will be coming soon, if not already in stores! So I typed some of it up for you. Not in any specific order, just stuff that caught my eye. Sorry about any spelling.*

ok...beleive this or not but today i got to see screening at place i work about 17 of us saw the movie and i have to say my jaw hit the floor and it isnt coming back up for a while i can tell you that much. You know when something really cool happens and you get that tingly feeling all over your body, i just sat through pretty much a whole movie of that feeling.

The parts of the smith fight you see in the trailer are nothing beleive me on this i was dazed by the whole thing to be honest, there's a couple of boring bits but that happens in any film where a guy and a chick do the talking shit when they're getting all love struck, i dunno i thought the chase sequence at the end of the movie was good, maybe a lil over hyped but it is quite a thing to see. But its the special effects without a doubt that leave you in awe and mentally shattered, now dont get me wrong the plot stands up on its own. damn i'm so tempted to just spill it all out but i dont think many ppl would appreciate too many spoilers, but your not left with an empty sfx shell of a movie i think both work in unison.

Neo is badass real bad ass i might calm down later and write a lil review i dunno.

i'll just say this for now beleive the hype this movie is prolly the best thing i've ever seen forget star wars and lotr they're sunday matinees compared to this. Soon as i can i'm watching this again, i just hope i dont get pinched by work and fired lol bah who cares its not like i'm selling the reels of the movie.

bottom line get a ticket go see itthen turn around get another ticket and go see it again

Well I unfortunatly will have to see the screener instead of the real thing because I am grounded untill summer due to bad grades. I hate the fact my parents wont let me see it although they know I have been waiting 3 years for the dam movie to come out! I'll be missing that and X-2 which I have also really been looking forward to. I just wish a screener would come soon enough.

Posted by wildcats on 04-23-2003 10:59 AM:

The thing that is gonna be the sweet about this movie is that it comes out where i lived (in Australia) the very day after it comes out in America. So i dont have to listen to ya guys rave about it for very long.

Posted by ernicoats on 04-25-2003 06:11 PM:

IMAX

They are going to be released in IMAX theaters... reloaded about 3 weeks after the 15th and the last one will be on the same day cant wait

Posted by Butch on 04-26-2003 04:24 PM:

I Know that we get reloaded on 15th May here in the UK.But I thought that America were getting it 7 days b4?.If so couldn't we expect cams to crop up around the 10th?.

Posted by ernicoats on 04-26-2003 07:06 PM:

nope it is released here in the US on the 15th as well. Though there have been some screeners released for testing to news agents.

Posted by Butch on 04-27-2003 11:34 AM:

Ok sorry i got a bit confused.I saw the latest trailer that i thought was for the UK but it seems it is going to a world wide release on the same day.So the UK should actually get it a few hours before the U.S.

Posted by Unset on 04-27-2003 04:55 PM:

i read somewhere that it will be played early at some places on the 14th.

Posted by Rand on 04-27-2003 11:05 PM:

Yea many theaters are having advanced showings on the 14th at like 10-12pm.. Thanks to fandango I already got tickets

Posted by Unset on 04-28-2003 04:15 AM:

then i'll see if i can get a good screener of x men 2. i hope.

erm, i hear UK rls date is 21st May, no where is selling tickets or advertising for anything earlier, i got my tickets, first showing acros UK at biggest cinema in europe

plus, cam will just make it look crap, ts wont do it justice, even a centroyp svcd TS wil be good, but nothing compared to a dvd screener, but that'll be about 2-4 weeks after cinemas

i expect about 10th to be a FTF crap 2-4 rating cam/ts, or some shit silver with subs by another group, then maybe 20-25th a centropy svcd.ts, hopefully with no angle, tint seems to be gone. and *hopefully* a dvd or vhs screener sometime after that, 30th may?

cant wait

Posted by Rand on 05-02-2003 02:30 AM:

Are TC's extremely rare or what?

Posted by ernicoats on 05-04-2003 11:23 PM:

just got my tickets for the movie cant wait hoping that 1245 in the after noon there wont be many people there because of people at work on Thurs.

Posted by dc_man on 05-05-2003 03:14 AM:

Im gonna call like 2days early and try to get my tickets. This is gonna be bigger than X2 in my city im thinking.

heh ... good luck. everyone I know tried to get tickets for the noon showing of The Two Towers on opening day, which was a weekday, I believe.

Posted by woo on 05-06-2003 12:13 PM:

If you'd rather watch even a DVD screener of this film, than go to see it in the Cinema on the big screen, then there's seriously something wrong .. I'd love for a DVD screener to be available after I just got back from seeing it though

It's out in Australia a day later, because we're 8-10 hours ahead of the UK, and about 16-22 hours ahead of the US. It levels it up to be shown globally closer to the same time, if we have it "a day later on paper"...

It opens here at midnight Yaaay for tickets!

Posted by dashed on 05-06-2003 07:04 PM:

Just got back from the cinema with my brand new ticket. Tobad im living in Sweden were the premiere is on the 21 may! Oh well, doesint really matter, just happy that i got a really good seat (as far back as you can get and in the middle

Posted by PhilD on 05-09-2003 03:29 PM:

Well i have 10 tickets for the midnight showing on the 21st It's gonna be great. I seriously can't wait. I will refuse to watch any copy of it until i've seen it 3 or 4 times at the cinema

i think it will do alot better then x2, there is just so much hype for it.. this is going to bring in some serious cash at the box offices.

Posted by Rand on 05-11-2003 04:24 AM:

There is no possible way for Matrix Reloaded to surpass X2's opening weekend box office numbers. Reloaded is rated R, X2 is rated PG-13, you do the math. Im guessing Reloaded will bring in about 60-70 mil opening weekend, and thats 10-20 mil higher than the current R rated opening weekend record (Hannibal i think).

Posted by princi on 05-11-2003 10:06 AM:

For a change, we australian's have it pretty good. First public showing is midnight 16th May (got my ticket already).

You may think: well, we're getting it on the 15th - but we remember, we're about 16 hours ahead of you guys! So the timing is actually pretty similar.

When is the first public showing the US? 15th, right?

Posted by napalmfuzz on 05-11-2003 10:25 AM:

evening of the 14th...

id bet that most larger cities will be doing 10pm showings and midnight showings... ill be attending a midnight showing

i disagree. for one thing, its not rated R everywhere, it's pg-13 in canada for example...and also, doesn't R in the USA mean that if your under 18, you have to be accompanied by a parent ??

im not predicting Spiderman-type sales for opening weekend but im guessing around 90 Million.

Posted by PhilD on 05-11-2003 09:28 PM:

I personally think that the matrix will be a bigger hit than x2 ... lets face it how many people are you missing by making it R?? Most people that go would have been older than 18 anyways i bet... what's more if they are under 18 they can go with an adult

Not really sure on how the whole rating system works in the US but the way i see it, it won't have a major effect on how big a hit it is.

Posted by vinnyv on 05-12-2003 12:00 AM:

A rated R means less cash than a PG-13. Most theaters in NY have gotten pretty strict about letting kids in under the required age. But this movie will still bring in alot of cash. Strange that it is a PG-13 in Canada...I have heard that the movie company was pissed off at the makers of Matrix for the R rating. The movie company wanted heavy lobbying for the PG-13....but it came down to one violent scene that the directors didnt want to cut. Look for the third installment to be PG-13. Wonder if the directors were forced to cut the scene in question for Canada. I thought the Canadian rating system was very strict when it came to rating and releasing very violent movies.

I'll be hitting a 12 am show on the 14th myself.. had to buy the tickets online 3 days ago just to get seats.. the next day we tried to get one for a friend but no go.. every showing that night was gone

Posted by glassdragon on 05-14-2003 05:33 AM:

Oh btw... not sure if this was posted yet but here is the matrix revolutions trailer... someone can make a post on the main page about it if they want... didn't want to get in trouble for making a new thread where there already was one

http://www.joblo.com/index.php

edit: it's just the ending of enter the matrix with all the revolutions footage that you see at the end

saw this movie last night at our employee screening. It was cool, theres a revolutions trailer at the end of the credits.

Posted by dc_man on 05-15-2003 07:11 AM:

Wow, amazing movie. Just saw a pre-screening at our local theatre tonight. 10pm show so it's legal as the movie is 2hr 10min long

9.5/10

Lots more action then the first, and the special effects are just amazing. I lub the car chase, and every fight Neo is in. Man he owns me

Posted by petrocs on 05-15-2003 07:19 AM:

This MOVIE ROCKS!!! Please please please please DONT CHEAT YOURSELF! go to the theater and see this. DO NOT ruin your experience. If you watch a crappy TS compared to the big screen you are an idiot

PS

Make sure you stay past the credits for a sneak peak at Revolutions

My rating?

10 out of 10

Nothing can compare
