For first Online copy , you couldnt have asked for a better TELESYNC.

SAOSiN is once again rising to the occasion !

From the bit i seen so far the picture is clear & crisp , AR looks great and sample on my tv sure sounded like DTS to me. Black n White movie so hard to tell , compaired it vs the online trailer and SAOSiN looks pretty dead on.

Props SAOSiN , keep em comming !

9/9/9

::| Edit |:: Just finished watching this movie , what an excellent movie , i loved it ! Kinda reminds me of a cross between comic books & the crow (my opinion) , definatly putting this on DVDR and watching it a few more times. Two Thumbs up !

People will prob comment on this;
CD1 & CD2 = bin/cue
CD3 = mpeg

difference ? ... not much , burn CD3 as a datacd ! , i couldnt care less

Perfect telesync of this movie , im gonna laugh at anyone who nukes this (as you know they will still leech it), also ... if SAOSiN dont repack , whos gonna proper SAOSiN without using their own sound & picture ?

Wow, can't believe how fast this is out. Exactly the film i wanted to see from the group i was hoping to release it Does it get any better?

From viewing sample and first 5 rar's

Video - Is very nice! What weve come to expect from Saosin really! Is black & white as mentioned before so color issues aren't too much of a problem. Is maybe a little dull and dark around the edges. The crop is fine, and there is no tilt at all from what i saw Overall at this early stage is as good as it could get.

Audio - nice, crisp and clear. Love that DTS track.

Movie - will be watching tonight, so will update..............but cmon we all know this film is gonna be good

9/9.5/*

wont bother downloading this one just yet, bought a load of DVDs yesterday that i have to work though first!

Posted by Davy on 04-03-2005 05:30 PM:

Put the sample in standalone and I doubt even a TUN TC could improve on this release.

If SAOSiN can keep this up with other releases (that aren't B+W) then i'm sure people will start forgetting CTP and loving their successor, but thats IF they can keep this quality up.

overall, 9/9/movie doesnt really appeal to me.

So CD3 isn't Bin/Cue.. so what, everyone probably burns with Nero anyway so just use their SVCD step-by-step for it it takes like 30secs longer,

/me applauds this work.

Posted by Boralyl on 04-03-2005 05:42 PM:

judging from sample, another great TS. The sound is dead on, great DTS track. The sample only had b/w scenes none of the random color scenes but it still looked very good, didn't see any problems with cropping.

Just wondering how this release is going to look if the color sequences are absent

the download even if everything else about it is near perfect.

Un-fucking-believable!

It's a trick of the eye that B&W looks crisper than colour, but Saosin would have nailed it regardless. Oh yeah, pacattack81, I *HOPE* you were joking

This sounded pretty damn good on my end. From what i understand the new DTS (Direct Theater Sound) Disks (AUE Files) still havent been cracked/decoded/dechyphered. I think untill they do this is as good as the audio is going to get. (For TELESYNC/TELECiNE's) Honestly its not *that* big of a difference. In the end , would you rather this sound? ... Or a CAM / ArmChair Jack / Drive In Jack audio , cause untill the DTS2 disks get cracked , those are the options

Ill take this audio over a CAM or a STN plug in jacked audio anyday

Posted by vcdking24 on 04-04-2005 06:12 AM:

Once again..great work. Like I said before, what separates SAOSIN from any other group, including Maven, Videocd and CTP, is how they just have no problem with the dark movies or dark scenes in a movie.. If these guys show some consistancy over a long period of time, they have to be considered the BEST !!

Posted by Khameleon808 on 04-04-2005 06:13 AM:

I'm not knocking the sound(it is very clear). It's just not stereo. The stereo sound makes a difference in action scenes with surround sound. Hearing certain things from the left or right just "adds" a little more to the movie. I'll take the jacked in stereo sound over this(cause i can clean it up), but this is still top quality sound.

Posted by tezmo on 04-04-2005 09:38 AM:

9/9/10 - I haven't ever watched a movie first-time on TS before, but because I was so amped for this, because SAOSiN made such a good job of it (it being predominantly black and white didnt hurt things), and because I would otherwise have to wait another 2 months to see it at the cinema, I went ahead and downloaded this (re-merged and burned to dvd), and was *not* dissapointed - they will get my cash come June 1st when it gets a theatrical release here, and again when theres a DVD out - I'm speechless tbh about the movie itself - its like nothing I have ever seen before - theres certainly nothing with which to compare it - good stuff

Posted by moviewhore on 04-04-2005 10:26 AM:

It almost seems, that at this point, Saosin is mainly competing with themselves when it comes to TS's. I have noticed in people's posts they judge the quality of the Saosin releases by comparing them to the previous Saosin releases! They have set a high standard for themselves with quality release after quality release. All of us can only hope they continue.

This movie surprised me. I wasn't expecting much, but it is actually very good. Better by far than 99% of the crap Hollywood produces these days.

Overall 9/9/9.5

Thank you Saosin! Looking forward to the next one!

The system should allow users to vote ANYTHING within 3 or 4 of the current average, without penalty, and penalize anybody who merely votes 1 or 10 against the trend (hear that, J Eastwood?)

I gave this a 10/9/9 - To those who have not seen it yet, think of it as a more stylized, yet depraved version of Kill Bill. Very cool, but not one to let the kiddies see (My 12 year old is disappointed, but defers to my judgement - his words).

This release looked great in every way. Where there was color, it was crisp and well defined. Except for minor jiggling at the start, which only proved that it was not some transfer from a DVD Screener (and will likely throw a monkey wrench into any other group's plans to steal the video), the picture was perfectly framed and saturation/contrast/lighting was absolutely stunning. It was not a trick of B/W imagery - check out the car seen where Dwight is driving and the roof of the car lights up in alternating colors. Very nice.

The wife and I watched this on the PC last night, she became glued the second she bothered to actually watch (she was playing a game on her PC nearby when I started the movie). I'll be transferring this to DVD tonight to watch on the big screen later this week after the kids go to bed.

Well, I watched the much anticipated "Sin City" last night. I can honestly say that is the most violent movie i have ever seen. Remember the overkill death scenes in Kill Bill. Its like that... on crack. There were more dismemberments than Saving Private Ryan, and beheading that would make the Highlander cringe. Not just with a sword either. one guy uses a hacksaw!

*SPOILERS*

Elijah Wood's character was cool, even though he had women's heads mounted on his wall, and ate their bodies alongside of his dog/wolf. Bruce Willis even pulls one guys entire package off with his bare hands! EEWW.. Bruce Willis, and Jessica Alba were the only two characters that i actually liked. They didnt really expand on anyone else. Who needs character development when you have all those guns and blades? I found myself getting bored despite all the killing, and was looking forward to it being over. This has to be the most over hyped movie of the year. I enjoyed seeing all those stars in it. Its a shame that even with Directors: Robert Rodriguez, Frank Miller, and "special guest director" Quienten Tarantino that the talented actors didn't have better directing. It was like watching a two hour ultra violent Max Payne video including the cheesy detective commentary.
The visuals were great. It gets high points for originality. I loved the BnW with just a splash of color to accent certain aspects. The BnW helped hide some of the CGI effects. With the all star cast, the originality of the video transfer it has such great potential. What we get is an OK storyline, Extreme excess of blood, and violence, moderate amounts of nudity, and good acting. Its worth watching just for the experience, but its not one that when its over you think "Wow, that was a really good movie. I'm definitely going to buy that on DVD". I would't call it a bad movie, its just a dissappointment.

Great quality from Saosin. Just a few seconds of shaky camera at the beginning, then its smooth sailing from there. With the repack on CD3, there are no flaws in video or audio. It goes from opening to the first second of credits. Great AR, great "color", very nice sound. This will hold us over until a DVDScr.

my thanks again to Sao, with the repack, everything is great, and yes, shaky at the beginning but after that, it's right-on.

Video is very good, little shaky at the beginning and there is a part I noticed while FF through the DVD where the black and white kind of look yellow but just might be me. Audio is spot on perfect. And of course, the movie was fantastic. Best of the year easily and is on my top 10 list of all time!

BTW, the bigger the TV, screen, moniter, etc... you watch this on, the better it looks.

great movie, great quality keep em coming sao

Posted by Neversoft on 04-06-2005 12:17 PM:

Excellent movie, excellent copy... I think I came roughly six times during the movie

Seriously though - It's spectacularly violent, fast paced, interesting and original. I struggled to get into it for the first 15 minutes because it feels so "odd" but once your head gets used to the idea the movie takes on whole new dimensions.

I'd recommend seeing this movie in the cinema not because of the quality of Saosin's rip (which is excellent) but because this is the type of movie Hollywood should be encouraged to produce: it's brave, experimental, original - call it what you want but one thing is for sure, it's different, in a very good way. Frankly, all the hype surrounding this movie is deserved, although it's probably not to everybody's taste.

Video - 9 (although because it's predominantly B&W it's hard to fuck the video up)
Audio - 7 (clear but not super)
Movie - 9 (yep, probably the first movie I've rated this highly in months)

Looks like a Great release, quality top notch!
9/9/10

One quick question, could someone tell me the scale ratio of the video (4:3 or 16:9)

::EDIT:: It's a TS so technically there's no ratio but it's normal aspect ratio, with upper/lower borders to force 16:9 - Neversoft::

Posted by owlhead on 04-06-2005 05:22 PM:

black and white

it does have the color sequences in it and this is one of the best ts i have ever seen! keep up the good work.

Maybe it's just me, but I think theres a large section missing between 1/2.

***SPOILERS REMOVED***

Section 1 for me is: 34:36 long.
Section 2 for me is: 34:53 long.

If anybody has an idea, please help!

Hey everyone, saw this movie in the theater and it kix ass. Now can anyone tell me how to get it to work after i've downloaded it. I go to extract the files using isobuster and it keeps saying every sector can't be read. I've downloaded the three bin and three cue images. Where do I go from here?

Posted by Bravo on 04-07-2005 03:50 PM:

For all of you that rated the sound a 10 when it's mono. I wonder what would you rate the stereo sound? It is very good sound, but it isn't a true copy of the original track. It is a part of the orginal track(not complete).

Watched last night and was very impressed with quality also.

Great, great movie, and extremely faithful to the original comics!

Video is good, but not great, audio could use a little more clarity.

Wondering if anyone can hep me out i have no cue files or my bins,

thanks

Posted by drizzle on 04-09-2005 04:10 AM:

glitches on first cd?

Am I the only one seeing hiccups playing the first CD?

I got curious, extracted the MPEG, running it though some tools...

They are still chewing on it as I write, but so far they report that at one point the audio switched to 32Khz, and that there are PTS jumps in the video. It's also got some GOPs with more than 15 pics, but I'm not sure if that is OK for SVCD or not (it isn't for DVD).

As far as the third CD goes...

Just rename it to .BIN, edit the cue to also say .bin, and burn it.
It *is* an SVCD, just the wrong extension.

Sound Jumps

Has anybody been getting muting of sound for a split second on SOASIN releases. In this release its every other word.

Posted by razorbladex90 on 04-09-2005 05:38 PM:

I've got nothing to say about the quality because its already been said. The movie is the best I've seen all year. I was glued to my TV from start to finish. Robert Rodriguez has always done enjoyable movies but here he's really outdone himself.

Video - 9
Audio - 9
Movie - 9

Saosin - I LOVE YOU!!

Yes, that's what I'm talking about...

Glitches in the sound were what caught my attention initially.

Further analysis seems to indicate that the variable bitrate video peaks above the SVCD 2X max and that there are related MUX'ing issues. (The bit I reported earlier about the audio sample rate was a red herring - *that* tool was having troubles parsing the mpeg data)

On CD1,

Bitrate Viewer says 2284 Average 2869 Peak

MPEG-2 Validator says 2283k Average 2869k Peak for video stream, 224k for audio, 2723k Program mux rate

MPEG-2 Validator also indicates "PTS Underflow (Mux Error)" and "DTS Underflow (Mux Error)"

Demux'd the audio and video streams and fed them to BBMPEG to remux for SVCD, allowing it to calculate the rates, and it reports:

Multiplexing information
Video stream data rate : 369850 bytes/sec (2958800 bits/sec)
Audio stream 1 data rate : 28000 bytes/sec (224000 bits/sec)
Overhead data rate : 6300 bytes/sec (50400 bits/sec)
Total data rate : 404150 bytes/sec (3233200 bits/sec)

The resulting MPEG file plays smoothly with no glitches.

And for what it's worth, running the remuxed mpg back through MPEG-2 Validator indicates a new Program Mux rate of 3157k and no PTS/DTS underflow errors.

Smile Best qual TS vid quality ever!

Thx, Saosin,

I usually don't post, but this by far the best quality video wise for a TS that I've ever seen. Keep up the outstanding work. B/c it is greatly appreciated.

Not getting that here, try burning at a lower speed. If you're running it on your PC, then your processor is probably too slow.

I'm getting that too, and slow processor is not the case. 2.6GHz A64 here.
