Review: National Security (2003) w/Martin Lawrence

In one I call the "Pluto Nash" treatment, and the craziness of Martin Lawrences career, I am looking more forward to the sequel with Will Smith, in Bad Boys 2, than this movie.

Martin Lawrence plays Earl Montgomery, a rebellious LAPD Police Cadet who gets kicked out of the Police Academy only to wind up as a lowly security guard for National Security. He teams up with Hank Rafferty, played by Steve Zahn (Joyride), a disgraced LAPD police officer, who gets stripped of his badge after Earl officially accuses him of harrassment to the LAPD, in one of the few amusing parts of the movie.

Earl and Hank, despite their bickering, are investigating a major smuggling operation led by Julia Roberts, big brother, Eric. I have never liked his career, and his performance in this movie has yet to change my mind.

National Security is sort of a cross between Police Academy and one of Lawrences other films, Blue Streak, which a sequel of that movie is coming out later this year.

National Security is one of Lawrence's poorer choices of movie roles, and should fail miserably at the box office.

National Security is rated PG13 for language and sensuality.

My rating: a 4 out of 10.

Yes, it was called Dark Knight, but his last movie technically was Runteldat, the concert movie.

That's not a real movie, it's just putting a performance into theaters. Anyways how was that?

I've went against the advice of my father, and decided I will watch this. If a high quality release isn't up soon I'll be heading to the theaters soon. :}
