-- Review: The Core (2003) (http://www.vcdhq.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=17198)

Review: (2003) The Core with Hilary Swank

Before you read any further, click away, cause if you are expecting a positive review think again.

and a point I want to bring up, that yes, this film was suppose to be released back in November 2002, but cause of the sniper incidents this film was pushed to its released date of March 28, 2003.

The cast of the new Diaster flick is top notch, and should be commended, but who wrote this movie should be shot for making such a terrible movie.

Aaron Eckhart (Gwenyth Paltrows love interest in Possession) leads a good cast, which includes Stanley Tucci, Hilary Swank, Bruce Greenwood, and Delroy Lindo just to mention a few, and director Jon Amiel (of the much hyped Singing Detective with Robert Downey Jr.) adds DJ Qualls (Road Trip, and The New Guy) to the mix, and to much of my surprise he is the best actor in the movie.

The plot of the movie focuses around a group of seven professionals brought together by the government to try and save the earth from an impending natural diasaster.

Leading the expedition is Dr. Josh Keyes (Eckhart), trying to look more like an action hero than doc, Major Becky Childs (Swank), the Core's "obligated female" and Keyes love interest, both of who must dig into the earth's core to stop impending world disaster.

They are given their own space shuttle and everything, and the lesser known actors in this movie tend to die first (small spoiler, big surprise there).

The Core is a lower budger Armageddon, thus minus Ben Affleck, Bruce Willis, and Liv Tyler. I was waiting for Aerosmith to do films soundtrack, but unfortunately i heard neither.

The Core is a major waste of talent and your time, and should have been shelved forever or until it hits DVD.

The Core is rated PG13 for language and violence.

The Core hits theatres March 28, 2003.

My rating: a 2.5 out of 10

what do the sniper incidents have to do with this movie? I can understand the delay of Phone Booth.

and holy hell that's a terrible review...I didn't expect to like it considering I wasn't a fan of armageddon though..I dunno the plot seems ok but eh..

I thought this film was delayed because of the Columbia Space Shuttle disaster?
Cant really comment on the movie as I have not seen it, but based on that review I think I will hold off seeing it for a while.

The original release of this movie was suppose to be in November 2002, however Paramount decided internally to hold off releasing this movie til this past weekend, and yes it was because of Sniper incident..

re:Columbia incident, they decided to release the film in due to accident cause it would have been too long to hold off, i wish they kept movie on the shelf.

One time, my cousin Walter got this cat stuck in his ass. True story. He bought it at our local mall so the whole fiasco wound up on the news, it was embarrassing for my relatives and all, but the next week he did it again, different cat, same results, complete with another trip to the emergency room! So I run into him a week later in the mall and he’s buying another cat and I says to ‘em "Jesus Walt, what are you doing? You know your just gonna get this cat stuck up your ass too, why don’t you knock it off?" And he says to me "Brodie, how the hell else am I supposed to get the gerbil out?" My cousin was a weird guy....
