Oh no... I got the first bunch of RARs... The video is even worse Oh well, I guess that was to be expected. 170 mins at 3100kbit/sec from around 6000kbit/sec is a tough encode... At least it looks like a CCE encode.

Gonna just buy this one, it'll be worth it.

Video 6/10 - Eh... What can you do. The untouched didn't look too good and this is worse. But keep in mind, getting the untouched wasn't that much better, so I think this is the better of the 2 releases (untouched I was thinking like a 7 or 8 max).

DVD-R 10/10 - From what I saw so far, this is as good as you'll have on a single DVD-5.

I am surprised it took this long to get the movie out at all, coming on DVD May 24 and Blockbuster already has it for their staff for pre-viewing (not for customer rental).

::EDIT - I posted this quickly without getting the whole thing to try and tell people this release is probably the best of the two, and not that I wanted to be "first" to post::

Eh? Two weeks is usually the norm, and this is exactly 2 weeks.

I think this looks good (from sample). BHP gave like 4 reasons to proper MPT, which I think just because it's MPT it should be propered . LoL

But porco556's standards are above all. If the original gets a 7 and this gets a 6 (to him), that means on my standards if the original is a 10, then this is a 9. (sounds about right)

Yep, I am one picky bitch

If the MPT is 10 for untouched, then this should be a 8 around IMO.

Definitely the version to get, checked out more and I'm happy enough with this. MPT's heart was in the right place, but their knowledge/know how is still lacking.

But usually releases are around 1 month ahead aren't they? Either way, it's out now, so time to enjoy.

A month ahead of shelf date isn't too common, more about 2-3 weeks.

Ya id have to agree with this. I burnt BHP's copy and watching it in the standalone its blurry & motionblurness on fast moving scenes ... on retail it shouldnt have this , TC mabey.

Expected as mentioned as they crammed a hella lot of movie onto 1 Disc.

This is the release to get though as MPTDVD's copy Disc 2 was screwed (no menu etc , listed in nfo).

Had MPTDVD properly encoded Disk2 or release a patch the other stuff BHP said about 1 Disc blah blah woulda been crap.

Anyway this is the release to get. If you dont like motionblurnes etc , either wait for DVD9 or rent it in 3 weeks and make your own 2 Disc.

Maybe its the film, as i have yet to see a good copy of this film, all DVD sourced versions have been pretty poor, and i dont think its any fault of the groups.

Id be interested to see what the PAL DVD looks like when its out.

7/9/?

Definatly you or the source you got it from, just watched it all. Looked ok to me.

I can't fault this release. Perhaps my player is more tolerant of downloads than some others but I was unable to detect any motion artefacts. Not that I was specially looking for them since this a drama and not an action movie. Sure, the color looks real peculiar but I assume that was part pf the period feel.

Excellent as BHP's efforts are anyone who is a fan of this movie should still buy the retail. If nothing else you get to hear Scorsese's commentary that way.
