OKAY All you people listen up. I have just deleted about 8 posts from here that had absolutely NOTHING TO DO with the release. The first few were, "I remember this movie" and that slowly degenerated into a "Hooray, I can't wait to get this" parade and a discussion about phor20's PICTURE in his sig. (remove it, please....it's too damn big).

If you haven't seen the release, or a sample, please do not flood the thread with worthless comments. People want to hear posts on the quality of the release, not about your childhood.

Thanks. That is all.

Not to be nasty or anything, but I don't think many people are interested in the quality of a Howard the Duck release... which is incidently nice (Just typical VHS rip).

Actually, thinking about it, it must really suck to be a mod on here the amount of pointless posts I read through (This one included) when just browsing this site.

Not the best quality, this movie has been broadcast on satellite many times. I didn't realize there was no DVD of this otherwise I would have made an SVCD long ago.

WTF! Not the best quality? I have it on good authority this is a 9 Pass VBR. Are you shitting me? Oh no, wait, you haven't seen the sample have you.

Just grabbed the sample. Looks top dollar to me. Decent enough movie too. Plus Lea Thompson is in it.

Think before you post.

I really dont see the point of doing 9 passes on a vhs, but whatever, if they got the time, the quality is damn good. 9/9/6

I don't know if this is relevant and if its not Im sorry but whats a CVD????

Posted by Mystic Slippers on 03-31-2003 01:03 PM:

CVD is China Video Disc. It was launched as a successor to VCD but was sadly overshadowed by SVCD.

It's a shame really, i like these CVD releases, CVD is a perfect format to use on a VHS source. To quote from vcdhelp.com, "CVD is basicly the same as SVCD but with a lower video resolution. Using a lower resolution you get more data for each pixel which means less mpeg artifacts such as blockiness compared to a SVCD with the same bitrate, but you will lose some sharpness. Most SVCD capable standalone DVD Players supports CVD."
