-- What Eddie Murphy needs to boost his career. (http://www.vcdhq.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=20773)
What Eddie Murphy needs to boost his career.
I say Eddie Murphy needs to get away from the family stuff. I know he wants a cleaner image but if he keeps going the way of Daddy Day Care. He will go the way of the dodo very soon. I think he needs to come out with another standup comedian movie like his last standup movie RAW. I must say. I don't think I every laughed so hard in my life as I did during that movie. Jim Carrey went back to comedy with great success in Bruce Allmighty. Now it's time for Eddie Murphy to go back to his raw, dirty mouth ways. I liked him much better like that.
A new standup comedian movie with Eddie Murphy if done right would guarantee atleast 100 million at the box office and probably much more.
You're completely wrong. Yes, Daddy Day Cate was not a good movie, but nonetheless, it proved to America that Murphy STILL is a popular attraction and he can bring in money. It exceeded all expectations with it's close to 100 Million so far in the US Box Office. With that said, Murphy will be offered roles in MANY more movies (one would be Shrek 2) and his career will be back on track, or hopefully. If he makes a couple hits following Daddy Day Care, maybe you'll get your standup special on HBO or a standup comedy film. Daddy Day Care may not have been my pick for a way to get back on track, but it will do the job.
And...a standup comedy movie would never make 100 Million in the box office.
I bet it would. People remember RAW was a good funny movie(dirty mouthed or not). And would get a lot of repeats. Eddie was ok in Dr. Doolittle and Shrek but Daddy Day Care was horrible. The only reason the movie is doing so well is because of all those kids going to see it. Sure it's funny to them but to adults. Nothing at all was funny about the movie.
I liked Daddy Day Care...it was sos tupid and that is why i liked it. I watched it in theaters but i didnt pay, i snuck in, BUt it was funny. I think though he does have to get away from family movies but not for good, do some very occasionally and do some action flicts too.
Do you guys like LIFE? I liked that movie. Even tho I can't stand Martin Lawrence. I did like the movie. Martin was tolerable and Eddie was great.
well i mean its not like one person is going to have a hit every movie they make hell sports stars have their slumps every now and then. He is a well known name and if nothing else his name will sell movies its just that he has to be cast in the right role for him, not every role he has played fits his personality
just needs to go back to how he started saying fuck and doing movies like bev hills cop 48hrs stuff like that made him big
btw i though i spy was funny as shit but the plot sucked

Eddie is past his prime..you say all the movies he makes now are for family audiences? What about Showtime or Bowfinger or Life or even to an extent ISpy..these arent family films but they all have something in common..they werent very succesful..Eddie sees that making Disney style family comedy is where he's successful right now. We shall have to see if his family film record stays on track in November with Haunted Mansion

not noticed about eddies fourtcomming new release lets hope it is not another waste of time.
Eddie needs to stop fuckin selling out.
He's done some great roles over the years, and he's still got talent, but he's gotta go back to picking good scripts, and not that Pluto Nash/Doolittle/Daycare bullshit.
well hes got like 4 kids, it'd be hard to tell them you can see this movie, this movie, and this movie till you turn 16.
