Power DVD 5.0 huge problems
I guess this goes in this forum since there is no "software DVD player" forum but oh what the hell..does anybody else have major problems with this version? Like it freezes and crashes and has so many bugs its not even funny..is this normal? :-/

Hmm, I never have any real problems with PowerDVD 5.0 running on my XP systems. What OS are you using, and what exactly does it do, like what type of files does it crash with (avis, mpegs, etc)?
I'm still using good old 2.55... had problem with 3 series and its ability to open files and adjust the resolution without getting an error and crashing PowerDVD. Never did get around to looking at 4. And well 5..... lol, didn't know there was a 5. But i think i will watch this thread for a while before i bother looking at it myself.

only problem i see is that the video will somtimes get all pixled.
i have xp and it works fine for me. they have a little better base skin in my opinion too.
I Had big problems with Power dvd 5
stuttering sound problems when playing back Dvds
but it worked fine playing divx avi films
I traced the problem to the Via 4 in 1 drivers
for my Asus Motherboard changed those
now everything is great.
see if that works for you
I have PowerDVD 5 with no huge problems, running under Win98, but it does freeze up and act a bit glitchy at times. BSPlayer (www.bsplayer.org) gives me much better playback, better picture, easier to use, compatible with everything (vob, xvid, vcds, svcds, etc), and its free, Id try that, or any other one (except WindowsMediaPlayer, quiktime, & real player)
I bit the bullet and upgraded, no problems here on win2k.
