You missed the point... This is a 1:1 copy of the retail (retail is a double-sided single-layer disc). That means even if you did buy it, then the quality will still suck. The complaint was against the retail Special Edition, not the rip.

Anyone else have problems with this one?

It won't play in any of my PC's dvd players, and when I view the menu with dvd stripper, all the menus are blank...

The info says menus untouched, but that doesn't seem to be the case, at least to me.

Any ideas?

Had the same problem and extracted the img to my hd. The release has no menu, but everything else (movie, extras, & subs) is there. I ran it through a program to strip everything, but the movie and it plays fine. I guess you could make your own menu?

what is on the 2nd disc?

specials or still the movie?

thx

Strange stuff... Mine worked 100% no problem. Menus and everything was there. There is no reason for this release to be screwed up, especially since it was sourced from a DVD-5 (DVD-5 flipper disc to be exact).

If you have problems, rent it and copy it from there.

bwahaha... My friend got this release and he said the menu was not there. So I paused and remembered this forum. Turns out (a scene first), that ThP screwed up a DVD-5 rip!!

So now I am thinking, WTF version do I have?! His menu VOB was like 8KB, which is not right. So technically, this release deserves to be nuked IMO. Unless there are 2 versions floating around (a fake and a real). Oh well, so stupid.

the original is not dvd-5, it's double-sided dual-layered
thats why they ripped out the theatrical version.

Posted by spideronfire on 04-18-2005 11:06 AM:

the original wasn't dvd-5, i have it, it's double-sided dual-layered.
that's why they had to rip the theatrical version (which means you miss out on the commentaries too). they would have had to downsample the extras too.

Hmm, then that's still screwed up. The copy I've got is 3.8gigs with menu and movies. My friends copy is 3.7gigs.

That still means that ThP messed up then. They could have fit at minimum the commentary tracks (all 3 of them would be around 450megs) and still have space left over. Sounds like the only thing they needed to rip out was the theatrical version.

Thanks for the info though on the dual layer. The site I usually check has informed me wrong. But most of the times they are accurate...
