VCDQ Mobile Alerts

I think a nice feature for VCDQ would be an alert system, to alert you when new releases are out, that are sent directly to your Mobile Phone/PDA, etc.

I'm always busy and sometimes I don't have time to go and check the site for what has come out that day.

I also think that this feature would be good for anyone who has problems accessing this site from a school network, etc, and has been blocked from accessing VCDQ from work or the like.

That way we can bookmark the releases on our phones, set reminders, etc. and stay up to date with releases at the press of a button.

The whole point, is to have access to it, while not having internet access.

You don't have internet on your mobile phone? WTF? Do you live in the 1980's?

Not a problem. We'll be sending the bill to you when we have to send out 108,000 texts per release added to the database. This is a binding agreement.

Could you not generate revenue for the site by offering such alerts as an SMS subscription service? The recipient pays to receive the alerts until they text "STOP" back.

Just a thought, I don't really know how such services are operated.

I'm not an expert or anything, but how is it sites and even IRC can send sms to people but we cant without costing money to VCD
I mean how do they offer the free service of sending SMS to people,
I dont think it would be that hard. And the bill would be shipped to the users anyways i mean after all they have to pay for TXT. :P
