This Is Being Nuked For Bad Audio and Picture... Looks like FTF strikes Agian, I'll give you props for being early though...

Props for being first to release again, but boos for the quality, again.

Props to FTF for the quick releases but I honestly don't know how some of you can watch their releases, I'll dl a quick sample from time to time and see the same crappy quality over and over and over again. They are all plagued by dull faded heavily pixelated poorly saturated loud and muffled messed up audio and visuals. I guess they have a fan-base and there are those "diamond in the rough" releases like Van Wilder/Red Dragon but be honest with me... Is the 2-3 day pre worth the eye sore? I can't do any better so you guys have the right to flame me, but I mean usually groups progress and evolve into something better but then there are also those groups who do NOT and simply call it quits. FTF has been at it for about 2 years and still, I see the same quality that I saw with one of their first releases "What Lies Beneath". And you all probably think I am an unappreciative prick, but how can I be unappreciative of releases I don't watch anyways... I thank groups like FTF who steered me away from downloading TS's anymore, and until the day telesync quality comes back (i.e. the vcdeurope/tfe era) I guess I'll have to stick with telecines or screeners. flame away!

Video is barley watchable, terrible sound . great movie. props for the quick release but i recommend everyone to wait for a better one or see it in the theater to not ruin it. 5/4/9

Pity about the sound caus the video is watchable. Sound is loud, distorted and has an echo, only watch this release if you're really desperate.

ok i saw that this was released yesterday and i was excited, downloaded it over night. now i just took a look at it and i can not belive how shitty of a job FTF did on this release.

I've enjoyed a lot of FTF's releases in the past, but recently i have been very disappointed especially by The Ring which had people's heads cut off for some part, and had OK audio, and their so called proper had a nicer picture but much worse, well i thought the worst sound.

Now this horrible sound problem seems to be showing up in a number of their new releases.

Can someone fill me in on what horrible technique can be used to get audio this bad?
Is this problem due to the encoding process, or is it the way the movie was actually captured?

This movie relies greatly on sound. The movie is about about music (regardless of what people think about Eminem).

And if you want to watch this movie you are gonna have to sit and decifer every line that comes out of someone's mouth.

Not only this horrible sound, but the aspect ratio is fucked up too. Picture needs to be stretched vertically.
This pisses me off because it is so simple to fix this in TMPGEnc, they obviously weren't going to be beaten, so why not take extra time to correct this. Seems like they dont give a fuck about the final product, they just wanna win the face it seems.

And for anyone who says, dont complain, it's free, what do you do for the scene, go fuck yerselves. This is the biggest cop out excuse on this forum.

Rating - 6/5/??

Props for the pre release, must give credit where credit is due.

The problem with the audio is that the gain was too high when it was recorded so the sound clips at too low of a volume. Need to learn to set the levels correctly (if it can be done on the camera) which would eliminate the need to use audio normalization thus getting rid of the hiss.

This was obviously assembled under difficult circumstances, and the quality isn't great, but it's always a thrill to see a film before it is released, with no subtitles or anything!

Video, by telesync standards, is below average. It's dark, a tad shaky, and doesn't always show the complete screen.

The audio has some real problems, as noted in other comments, and it seems to be a pure cam shot, with the audience reactions clearly recorded on the tape.

But it is very welcome. Much better than what I had yesterday, and maybe tomotrrow will be even better. Many thanks to FTF for getting it to us on time. Richly deserved kudos!

Watched the sample and the sound blows, un-watchable IMO. This movie looks really good after seeing that sample, it makes me wanna find out what happens.

watched the whole release and I think the movie is very decent (the movie not the release). I'm seeing this in the theather on saturday and its more then worth the $7. There are lots of parts where the sound is just unbearable. Video is watchable and decent put the sound has the nastiest echo ever especially for a movie based so much on music. Most of the freestyles in the movie (Eminem has about 10 or more minutes of freestyles) are completely unaudible. Check it out in the theather if you really want to see the movie.

6 (video was as much as I can expect from ftf)
2 (audio was even lower then ftf usually produces (4ish))
7 (movie was pretty good and I think once I see it in theathers it will be an 8 or 9)

I'm going to pass on this release because of the shitty audio and I'd like to thank anyone who gave an actual review for enlightening me as to the quality of this release. I would like to point something out to those who are "hatin' on" Eminem(yeah thats the expression, looked it up in the suburban whiteboy dictionary). This is not Eminem's movie. It is not a "rap" movie. Its not made by Eminem's record label to make him look tougher or give him street cred. Its a movie made by this guy: http://us.imdb.com/Name?Hanson,%20Curtis. If you check his liitle history you can see that hes made a few really good movies. Eminem is an actor in this movie. He was selected because a) who else is going to manage to convince the audience that they can actually rap well enough to overcome massive prejudice and get ahead in the rap business, Mark Wahlberg??? b) its pretty obvious that he can play the role since it isnt actually MUCH of a stretch. So just relax, watch the movie, and get over yourselves. Making fun of suburban white kids who want to be black is really funny when it comes from a bunch of suburban white kids who have no ambition to walk away from their computer.

Ok I know this isn't a very big deal, but I think the beginning is fake in a way. I could be very wrong, but he beginning credits in this version seem cheesy, and going from a black screen to Eminem jumping around. I mean I've seen this done before, but this doesn't look right. Plus the fact Brittany Murphy's name is spelt "Britney" instead is either proof the beginning is fake, or that the film makers created a continuity. It just reminded me of the first version of XxX that had the wrong film company logo and the fake cheesy XxX graphic on screen...

I'm still trying to figure out how this thread got racial. Should of figured it would take this turn though since this movie is starring a white rapper who unmistakingly has skills and truthfully hasn't been touched by anybody he battles against.

I'm black but I'll still admit the boy gots skills.

Back to the movie read my post above. Movie rates a 7+ I state it a 7 because I couldn't hear all the flows in this release and thats a major part of the movie so when I get a chance to check it out at the theather I will be able to give it a true review.

Also I'm gettin pretty fed up of the reverse racism people have been pullin these days. Although white people may not have to go through the same things that black or other minority people go through that doesn't mean they don't have struggles or live in "suberbia" although that may be where the bulk of them live calling them all out like that is stereotyping just like minorities have been complaining about for years.

To say you dont like him is one thing... everyone has there tastes... but to say he's not talented is downright retarded... ahem... why is he up for artist of the decade... because since his first album in 95 hes been killin lyrically. What most people dont know is he used to rap about good stuff and not swear. For example:

I think this movie being nuked on the grounds of bad quality is pretty much up to the siteop's discretion. Those whining that it shouldn't have even been released because it's bad quality need to remember that speed still counts in the scene. This could've been Star Wars Episode II and the same quality and people still would've lapped it up and people still would've bitched about the quality. It's a popular movie, and FTF managed to get it out before the U.S. release. Hell, it took 6 days after the release to get Jackass in our hands.

FTF may be rude, their quality isn't much to write home about, but they're usually fast on release and consistent. Kinda like your mom's boyfriend

The starting credits are fake i just saw this about 2 hours at the movies and it says brian grazer/curtis hanson at the begining not grazer/curtis (forgive the spellin it is wrong) and eminems name isnt popped up in the middle of the screen like that when he is jumping at the bottom right it says eminem the reason to do this i think is they got the camera started a min late for the very begining and with eminem on the bottom right there ar is more animorphic then widescreen how the movie is presented so they didnt get there names on the sides

Video was OK, sound was terrible. Great early release, would have loved to see a better quality one put out first, but that is the way the cookie crumbles. I watched 5 minutes of CD1, 2 minutes of CD2, and just stopped it. I'll go ahead and pay the $10 to watch this in the theaters for the hell of it. =) Nice job FTF on the promptness...

ok 8-mile was a god movie i watched it and it good but the quality wasn't the greatest and the sound couls be better or maybe it just my tv but ya someone should get a better quality vertion of 8-mile

Listen up folks, I'm only going to say this once. Groups like FTF most likely don't give a fuck if you like their quality or not. All they're trying to do is get the movie out as quickly as possible.

The reason is simple: Be the first. It takes a LOT of work to earn a *PROPER* in the scene, and most groups don't even attempt it. Besides - you KNOW the screener's just around the corner.

There's lots of professional software available to help clean these things up, but it takes a lot of processing power and time to utilize them beneficially... It's much easier to grab it right from the DV feed and rar it up.

By the time you finish bitching about the quality of their cam or TS, the pre-retail DVD rip is out.

Criticize the release itself all you like (hell, that's what this forum is FOR), but don't push it on the group. The final fact of the matter is that if they didn't do it, it would take a lot to motivate others to do so instead.

My thoughts on this release: Mislabled (should have been *CAM*).
Picture: 5 (as TS) or 6 (as CAM).
Sound: 1 (as TS) or 4 (as CAM).
Movie: 6 - I liked it, Eminem's convincing in the role, and Kim Basinger is still a great actress. The story has several loose ends, leaves you hanging at the end, and fails to make a solid point about child abuse (neglect, etc.) that it struggles (several times) to point out. I downloaded this, I saw it in the theaters, and I just might buy the DVD.
