R4? NTSC? Seriously doubt that...
Region 4 is PAL.

Don't look at me, I'm ugly in the morning!
I have the full release..It is a re-encoded NTSC of the Region 4 Australia release..I got it simply for the extras. Not a horrible movie, but not very good either. All the material has obviously been downsampled, but its good enough for me till the R1 retail..I only downloaded it because i was bored.ENJOY!!

For the newbies, Latin America is NTSC Region 4. Learn before talk.
Good rellease, my retail version is here

i was under the impression (and correct me if im wrong) that the only pal format resides in region 2. every other region just has the dvd locked off simply by naming it by its region. again, i could be wrong
quote:AFAIK Australia and Hong Kong (and probably a few others) also use PAL. In addition, not all of Europe uses PAL, France uses SECAM for example (similar to PAL but colour is encoded differently - I think).

well my first post
Most of South America is NTSC Then there's is PAL like in Brazil and there's one more smaller country down there. just thought you like to know.
yes, australia is region 4 and is definitely PAL. being that I live in australia I would say I'm an authority on this.
here's some notes for you though:
a) we do get NTSC releases here from time to time - but they're rare and clearly labelled.
b) there are countries that use NTSC in region 4.
c) this van helsing disc isn't worth getting, toooo downsampled. dvdshrink could do a better job of it.

as the scene becomes more and more sloppy, groups will dupe and dupe and internal dupe dupe... but what pisses me off most iS groups that don't INCLUDE BITRATE FOR MAIN MOVIE AND/OR EXTRAS BITRATE IN NFO. NO SAMPLE? THANKS FOR NOTHING I WON"T BE GETTING THIS RELEASE.
Just download a rar, open it with VLC or another program that plays them. You can then calculate the bitrate ... and this is a NTSC release. R4 or not, it's NTSC. Get over it. Don't like this release? Then don't get it. Bitching usually won't get you anywhere. I personally will pass on this. Movie was pretty crappy and the VideoDVD release was plenty good.
