Rlease Moderator

Question - Who is Neversoft? If he is an Admin or moderator, why isn't this reflected in some way under his name? He seems to enjoy banning people just a little too much if you ask me. He's also inconsistent about banning. Sometimes someone will get banned for asking a noob technical question while others are allowed to rant and rave off the subject at will. I think his warning message is kind of an eyesore also. Do we really need a warning message in every comment thread? I don't intend this as a personal attack but he is overbearing at times and I find myself getting offended by his negative attitude.

Neversoft is your daddy.

If you get offended than your tolerance level is too low.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY

YES

WE WANT WARNINGS IN THE THREADS FOR ALL THE DUMBASSES TO KEEP THE FORUM A LIL' BIT MORE TIDY.
The VCD Comments section is comments section about the specific releases and nothing else, not a general section and since this is a web comment section, I'd like to comment that I hope your whining takes you elseware.

I probably ban more people than NS, and I'm sure that I enjoy it more. If you hit the "forum leaders" link from the main forum page, you'll see the list of mods and admins.

btw, you just broke one of the (well, mine anyway) rules....bitching about moderation.

To be honest with you, you have to try pretty hard to get banned by me "outside" of the comments threads. Seriously, normally you can flame me (people do) and give me shit and I'll just flame back but I admit I'm pretty draconian when it comes to the comments threads...

I don't enjoy banning people but either myself of Kalvaitis post the rules in every comment thread and yet people still can't stick to them... I could condense the comments thread rules into one sentence: "Comment on THIS release ONLY and ONLY after you've seen at least a sample - or expect to be banned" but then people would probably have issues with that. You also mention that I'm biased towards certain people, this is true: Nobody specific but if you've been a member for a long time or have a lot of posts then it's more likely that I'm PM them a warning instead.

Also, believe me when I say the rules are needed in every comment thread on the main page - I tried stopping for a while (approx 6 weeks ago) and they immediatley turned into a turgid flame war.

So yeah, I can kinda see what you're saying I do ban people with very little warning and for the slightest reason but only in the comments threads, I'm pretty amiable everywhere else I don't want people to think I enjoy being a cunt but we've tried the softly-softly approach in the comments threads and it didn't work and frankly if somebody has 20 posts under their belt and they've only been a member for a month and they break the (VERY obvious) comment-posting rules then they kinda deserve what was coming to them - Take that guy in the Alone In The Dark thread that I banned: He hadn't seen the sample, he hadn't a clue if it was a good release or not, he posted a "review" based on a .jpg which is fuck all use to anybody. If I hadn't banned him he would've been flamed like fuck and the whole thread would turn to shit simply because of one persons inability to follow simple rules.

In future, I'll at least "try" and issue a warning unless they're really taking the piss but the line has to be drawn somewhere.

Once again, from a member that has been around since 02'. What is with this? Is the moon lining up to Pluto a certain way or what?

I am heavy-handed in the comments sections, I admit that... but (and I'm getting repetative here) it's not like people don't know the rules for those threads - I post the fuckers often enough but if you were a Moderator for a forum and people we're blatantly ignoring the posting rules in the most public-facing and "used" part of the forum, what would you do? It because of this that I suppose it looks like all I do is ban people, if you don't normally venture past the comments threads that's all you ever see me doing.

Like I said, if you want to misbehave don't do it in the comments threads, I'm pretty tollerant in the rest of the forum.

... Kalvaitis on the other hand, sheesh, that blokes a bastard he once banned an orphan with terminal cancer because he didn't want the forum to catch it!

I wasn't falling for that little bastard's lies!

You're right about the rules being needed in nearly every comments thread (the main page one's especially) that's posted. And it's amazing that we can post those and people just completely ignore them and start the old "I wish CTP would release my Mom" or "Hey these guys suck. Can I watch a .rar without opening it?" or some such nonsense.

The Comments threads need to be useful and they need to be fairly uniform. That's going to naturally lead to heavier moderation. If we didn't moderate them that way....trust me people....they'd completely suck.

Didn’t realize my comments would open up such a can of worms. I appreciate the well thought out responses from those that gave them. To the others that ridiculed or attacked me for my post, you can go f**k yourselves. (Now who’s got the attitude problem? )

After listening to Neversoft’s rationale for his zeal in policing the comments section, I understand where he’s coming from better. The comments do need some oversight, I agree. I hated some of the flame wars I’ve seen in the comments section in the past, so I guess over-policing a forum is better than under-policing it. Neversoft was right to chastise the guy he examples but I think banning him was a little heavy-handed. A warning would have been sufficient. The poster did raise a couple of valid points from some prior threads concerning the releaser's competence – lol.

Anyway, vcdquality.com is a great, well run site and rules. I’ve been a longtime supporter and gave money when it disappeared for a while. Glad to see the site has so many supporters now.

Supporters like moi?

Didn't mean to attack, but I'm with Shorty6pac on this one in saying that there is far too much whining on the forum lately.

So don't take it personally, you caught me at a stage....

Wwwwwaaaaaaaa!!!!

Welcome to the real site.

Since 2002.

I truly dont mean to attack people verbally but i havent had a mt dew in 2 weeks and im starting to get a little edgy, if this continues to much longer i have the posibility fo turning into a full blown asshole, but then again to criticize me flaming you for your post would be hypocritcal because of you being albe to state your opinion, that being said, i miss hockey

I can't even change my title due to signing up with a hotmail account. Now it gives me poop if I try to change settings.
