That is pretty good overall. I'd swap the geforce 8600 for a 8800 though if you plan to do any gaming.

The 512mb Geforce 8800GTS is a pretty good deal for the amount of GPU power you get.

The 8600 is a decent card and you should be able to play new games on it without much hassle, its just not very future proof, ya know.

agreed. Nice machine for the price, but the graphics card is already in danger of being ousted, but if you aren't playing much in the way of games, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about................

maybe

Yeah i dont really play pc games , ive got a 360 for gaming , cant really get used to playing with a mouse and keyboard.

The only games i do play are some fruit machine roms and the occasional skirmish on commmand and conquer generals.

That PC's more than enough for what you want to do, but I have a deep-seated hatred towards Dell. If I were in your position I'd visit some local small computer shops to see how much it'd cost for them to custom build you a similar PC. I think you'd find their prices very competitive.
