NERDS! Put down the porn, 404 needs your help!

Firstly, I know this should be in the computer forum but time is of the essence so I will move it in there in a few days.

A few months ago, I created a thread about buying a new PC. I can't find the thread, but the general gist was to get someone to build one for me.

Now, the bod has 2 machines that says can handle all my gaming needs. It seems on the slightly cheaper side, to me. What do you guys think of the specs.

What do people think?

Also, as they both have HDMI out, can I just connect it to my 40" Sammy to play Hi-Def movies/TV Shows etc?

Both seem ok but it appears you are paying for stuff you could source elsewhere (Kaspersky etc.) at the expense of hardware.

This thread: http://forum.vcdq.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=82606 is a barometer.

If you lose the software you can up to a GeForce 9800GTX and an Intel Quad 9660.

Also, do you know what brand of ram you are getting with either system?

Hmm, I don't know actually about the ram. I will have to ask him.

I will look at the other thread.

Cheers chief

I can't seem to find the Quad 9660, only the Quad 6600. Is there much difference?

Specs I was looking at for the Quad are

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
4GB DDR2 RAM
500GB SATA Hard Drive
22x DVD Rewriter Drive
1GB GeForce 9500GT Graphics

Build it yourself and you'll save money on the software.

Probably a bit late now but I'd go for the 2nd option, simply because my crush on Intel is only paralleled in size with my loathing for AMD.

Watching a core2Duo boot up is like witnessing The Arch Angel Gabriel, dressed in Versace, riding a Unicorn over a Rainbow while snorting Cocaine from Megan Foxes fadge crack...

Ok, so probably not THAT good, but for fucks sake, NOTHING is THAT good...ever!

I have 2 XBOX 360's/ A Wii/A PS3/ A DS

Yes, building is the best option. But, I don't know what the best parts are nowadays. I've only ever used my PC to surf for porn and download porn.

So, I guess what I want is someone to list out the best parts so i can go to the boffins and tell them this is what I want.

It does need to play games, and also have the ability to be connected to my TV so i can watch the high-def stuff i download

Apart from a brief affair with WOW i've never bothered with PC games.

They are for nerds and Germans.

404:

The Phenom quad core machine will run circles around even the quad extreme pentium.

Just remember, no SLI in new AMD machines (with very few exceptions) because they support the ATI native Crossfire.

That is truly the downside for most hard core game boxes running AMD. I don't see the real world performance out of Cross fire that you get from SLI.
