cropped, but an amazing release. Video is very nice with good looking colors, audio is also much better then most of the other direct audio that has been around since dts2.

Don't know who released it, but that hopefully means the fbi doesn't either!

still looking for the dvdr though, which I've heard is very good as well. (not the fake meteor one)

Excellent release.

V: 9
A: 8 (9 upon watching on TV)
M: 10 (watched it in the theater)

The video isn't perfect, but it's pretty damn good. Russian titles are a little annoying, and there seems to be more pixellation than usual, but it might look better on my TV.

The AR is probably off as well, seems like it's 16x9 when it should be 1.85:1, but it's not that big a deal.

The audio is clear, but it seems to be mono. But it's clear, so no biggie.

I loved the movie, very creepy/terrifying, an excellent summer release.

EDIT: After watching the first disk on my TV, the audio/video is a lot better than the quick look I gave it on my PC.

The video is a little bright in some places, and there is a tiny bit of cropping on the right side. The audio sounds just fine.

What a great release. Audio gets a change to a 9 from me.

Pretty good stuff , i was gonna hold out for a dvdscr but with all the kicks in the nuts lately with the groups, i figured one wasnt gonna come anytime soon. video was nice on the phillips dvp642 xvid player , i had to turn the sound up a bit more than normal but it was great when i had it up , no hissing or anything so get this release it is the best so far. 8/8/9 I liked the movie alot. didnt know if anyone noticed the lil dot markers on certain frames or not, i counted about 4 or 5 which as you well know is used for tracking certian releases hopefully they figure out a way to blur those lil spots up before someone gets wise

BTW props to you groups out there still bringing the releases to us and total respect from those of us that watch them :P

By the way, ban my ass, this is my last post here anyways

public dupesites would be useless if the stuff didn't get leaked.

Blame group/site security first, then the public.

I'd rather your average guy in the street was downloading good quality stuff, if anything at all.

It's natural for people to want stuff they see is available. for every million people who download, one might have something to give back. If it was all closed doors, that one person would have a WAY smaller chance of finding a way to contribute.

As it is, there's a lot of individuals releasing good quality stuff via p2p, but the security risks there are obvious.

But yeah, we're offtopic. :P

After watching the entire movie last night, I found one spot where the audio went out of sync. Just want to find out if anyone else noticed it.

It was for about 2-3 minutes on the 3rd disk, when they are in the basement.

SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE:

.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Remember when Ray sees the Tripods sucking the blood out of the dude outside the house? When Harlan (Robins) starts screaming for him Ray runs up to him and says, "Be quiet" from that point on for about 2-3 minutes the audio is out of sync.

It could have just been my disk, just checking if anyone else noticed. It doesn't ruin the experience at all though.

cool ill have to check out this version. I still think everyone should see this one in the theatres because of the special effects.

Personally i thought the movie got a little too corny and unrealistic towards the end but the special affects are amazing.....if you want to see this movie you really should see it with all the special effects on a big screen with great movie speakers.

Wonder if groups now will be releasing things without saying the name of the group....this would be a smart way of doing things, who cares if you get credit for releasing it or not.

Posted by HaLiKuS on 07-08-2005 09:33 PM:

Get this copy if youre too cheap/lame to find the DVDR. The Tim Robbins scenes are still fairly dark, but this is as good as anyone could of asked for so soon.

Posted by mikeymike on 07-08-2005 10:11 PM:

can anyone confirm if this is the same as:
War.Of.The.Worlds.TC.XViD-XViD
as the xvid copy i looked at was a v good copy but i could notice a few very faint sort of lines veritically in the picture about a 3rd of the way in from the left?

Great release mind.

I'ts also getting confusing now as there are 4 film versions showing on the net of war of the worlds:

1 the tom cruise cinema version now showing.

2 the original 1953 version.

3 Pendragon pictures production = Set in the right location, in the right time (1904 invasion of England). It doesn't cover the entire book, but makes only tiny changes to the bits it does depict .

4 asylum production with C thomas howell, ( SOME relation to the book , but is modern day).

& we still have the Jeff Wayne animation to accompany the remastered album to come!!!

Posted by Dauntless on 07-08-2005 10:13 PM:

This is a fine release and and a relative quick one too. Video is almost perfect exept for a slight blur and minor cropping (not really noticable). Also the darker scenes are on the dark side, but what do you expect? Audio is just fine.

Conclusion: Very, very watchable TC.

8.5/8.5/8

I didn't notice this on CD3. I downloaded the files from usenet and burned them to CDs right away and started watching them while I was joining the files in MPEG VCR so I could burn it to DVD for my dad.

Anyway I when I got done watching the movies on CD which I had no problem with , the DVD I made was out of synch.

Anyone else have the files play fine on CD but go out of synch when you try to put it on DVD?

Nah...I would still go for tc, though a russian (as we have had a lot of lately) one nonetheless. Judging by the general ts standard of the last 2-3 months or so, then there has been nothing in this ballpark since saosins Sin City for me if this was ts, which I dont think it is. Almost perfect in fact, and ts seems to be the worst hit format.
video 8 for tc
audio 9 (spot on)
film 9(i loved it)

for all those who would argue with HG Wells, well you might as well pick fault with Shakespeares Hamlet

the audio is ok but not perfect

maybee use something other than logitek crappy pc stuff next time guys ?

there is a deffinite hiss in the background with the audio but is barely noticeable

the audio is a bit flat in regards to high frequencys , the bass tones are also flat .

Sounds ok on my daughters pc speakers but not so great on my home cineme setup (and no I aint postign specs cos retards will just say I am bullshiting due to extreme jealousy )

As stated in my first post the picture is good for a TC nto the best but ok

just thaught I would correct those who say this has Perfect sound .

nice rls , now wheres the ac3 version and does it have dd ex ? hehe

Must be the most dissapointing movie of the decade. Speilberg should be embarrassed with this piece of junk, even wasted money and 2 hours in the cinema for this

Posted by Anno on 07-09-2005 12:46 PM:

You gotta laugh at the 9/9/ers
What would they vote if this had DTS 15?

It's a run of the mill russian TC with adequate audio (it is hissy though) and a decent pic. Sure it's the best availble but try keeping things in perspective. There's been better TCs than this.

8/7.5/5

This is the first and only tc I've seen with those dots that appear on screen in theatres. Some of you will know what I'm talking about. Thought it was weird.

Ditto. Direct feed to 5.1 would rank 10. Even 2.0 would be 9 without the hiss. Picture is good. I think we have lowered our standards due to the lack of releases lately.

6-movie overall was ok but expected way more due to the hype

Video- 8 A little ghosting at beginning, but overall was very good.

Audio-7 Seemed like it was recorded low. Had to turn up surround to the max to hear.

Movie-9 Even with all the negatives I really liked it. Could of done with less screaming from the daughter tho.

definitely some sync issues when converted to DVD. i didnt bother to burn to 3 cd's to check if it was the actual conversion that did it, but from everything read i am assuming its out of sync, it starts somewhere around the basement scene and gets fixed before the end.

I stuck my mpg's directly into tmpgenc dvd author after patching them and have no sync issues. Give it a whirl and see what happens

This release is great..i must say to me it seems 100% in sync, good quality, the beggining is in russian though but never mind all it probably says is the name of the movie and for all the people that are wondering it is in English and it is the full movie(meening the there is sound in the last few minutes)

Thanx will give it a shot.. Eventually i just burned all 3 parts on the DVD and sequenced them. It does a little freeze when it goes from part 1 to part 2 and on to part 3 but barely noticeable..

Thumbs up ac3 bad LPCM good

used nerovision to convert and join the mpegs and used the LPCM audio option this time..volume was much much much louder...didnt turn my surround sound past 25 instead of 45...no sync problems whatsoever but video did get a tiny bit fuzzier than when i used ac3 audio option..go figure...

still 7/7/6

Posted by souljor on 07-11-2005 11:10 AM:

a damn fine telesync, not a telecine. look at the start of the film you can see the bottom of the cinema screen and the picture is slightly tilted, until it gets cropped as the movie starts.

having said that, very very good quality sound and picture, movie ended too abruptly imo but pretty good none the less, and some amazing effects.

if you're having sync issues when joining, another option is to not join them. re-encode them separately and have them as distinct titles that automatically play one after the other on the DVD. this is easy enough in DVDLab or TMPGEnc DVD Author

I thought this release was the best I've seen in a while... definitely cropped, though.

8/8/7.5

the movie was better than I expected. anybody who has a problem with the ending obviously didn't know the story... and hasn't seen the '53 version, either.

the FBI sent it to us in a care package because we help them all find out where things are located on the internet..so luckily you asked...

all ya gotta do is report all the leechers for sharing this file, end the scene and then HEY least you got to download this ONE file eh :O

try google mf

also there is a sync issue with this release, as all foreign releases usually do when english audio is added to it....

if you wanna really see it just look at the "tom/son" arguement while the military is driving by the "first" time...you'll see their argueing doesnt match their lips.

No problem noob. Always a pleasure to help someone in need. I get all of my movies from http://www.fbi.gov/download_pirated_movies. If you can't find them there, just call 1-800-NOCOPYS and I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction.

Those are basically identification markers.. they tell the studio where this copy of the film originated. I believe each region gets it's own set of dots, so they can tell where a bootleg came from. They've been doing it for a couple years now, at least.

On the film:

9/10/7

I'm having some problems with Disc 1 and 2, but I'm starting a new thread in the Encoding forum about it.

If Pal put the 3 files through TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress into 1 file then with same program using mpeg tools option Demultiplex into seperate sound & picture files then load into DVD-lab PRO 1.5 & after adding video file choose audio file in assets window then set tools/audio delay to 100ms & convert the audio file then add this to the video screen then hit the compile dvd icon & it's pefectlly in sync.

Had great expectations regarding this movie and was really disappointed. Saw this in theater prior to DLing. Had some REAL good FX (as to be expected), but was somewhat boring and the ending SUCKED. On to the ratings:

Audio: 8 Real good audio, no sync problems
Video: 8 Cropped and some pixelation in a couple of scenes
Movie: 7 As stated before, really disappointed.

I can't believe ppl are bitching about this rls. This is fucking excellent!!! The only problem I saw was it was in fullscreen so the edges are cut off, but other than that, perfect!!! Whoever did this, great job!!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you.

V/9.5 - Would have been 10 but the edges were cut off

A/9 - Haven't played it on surround sound yet, but sounded great through TV speakers. Voices are low sometimes.

M/8 - I was tired, but it kept me awake and seemed to go by fast (that is a good sign). Why is everyone moaning about the ending. It's the same fucking ending as the original movie, book and radio show. WTF??

Posted by Xeby on 07-17-2005 10:47 PM:

Watched this rls last week, very nice.
Obvious european source (Same language as Saosin's "Madagascar" release). Good TC, very watchable.

A friend of mine really thought it was a DVD until he noticed the black dot in the upper corner (to change reels).

9/8/7

Didn't like the ending too much. Suspense was awesome though.
