Isn't this a dupe of RfTA's release?

Posted by JoshNya on 11-01-2002 05:06 AM:

FS sucks

This is bad res 640x480 anyhow, SVCDs=480x480

I don't have a WS tv so FS rules!!
I'm so sick of the narrow WS releases, it's really hard to enjoy the movie when the display aspect is so small.

:: bleh FS is the devil and shall be destroyed!!! -pHo

as long as you have a tv that's larger than 19", the WS ratio really is not 'so small'. but if you enjoy only seeing part of a given scene instead of the entire thing, by all means stick with pan-n-scan.

huumm only bad res?
then 3.4 is a bit low

Ya know... A persons opinion is their opinion and I respect it unless they dislike Widescreen.... Thats like Saying "I prefer watching a movie with 3/4 the sound instead of all of it."

So I run into him a week later in the mall and hes buying another cat and I says to em "Jesus Walt, what are you doing? You know your just gonna get this cat stuck up your ass too, why dont you knock it off?" And he says to me "Brodie, how the hell else am I supposed to get the gerbil out?" My cousin was a weird guy....

I have a 32 Inch Sony, even that is too small for a WS. The picture only takes up 40% of the screen, while the black bars cover 60%. It's really hard to enjoy a action film when the picture is so tiny.
Well that's just view. Most of you will disagree with me because most of you have a WS tv. Until i get myself a WS tv, I will keep cheering for FS.

:: Pho if you write below this line, you're an ass.

im an ass!

Posted by pHo on 11-01-2002 06:41 PM:

heh and now to be serious...

even when i had a 14" fs tv, i would watch films in original aspect. theres a big difference between the bars in a 1.85:1 film and a 2.35:1 film (or even 2.40:1 as Fight Club was) and i really can't see how anyone would have a prob with 1.85:1, even on a small screen the bars are pretty small..

and yes i do have a WS tv now, altho SVCDs aren't anamorphic so i end up watching them on a FS set generally anyway....

i'd rather have the whole picture with blackbars than lose such a large percentage of the film when the sides are cut off. its a crime against cinema! (and so are dubs !)

I don't mind 480x480, but 16:9 is just sick!
QUOTE: as long as your have a tv that's larger than 19", the WS ratio really is not 'so small
It is unacceptable when the black bar is larger than the picture itself.
Shame on you pho, can't believe you actually believe in that alexchiu scam.

Posted by pHo on 11-01-2002 07:12 PM:

nobody releases in 16:9 tho.. and you can still have a 480x480 (which is only a raw resolution, the 1:1 ar is decoded to 640x480 4:3 on playback) 1.85:1 release, just the black bars are hardcoded to image rather than on a DVD where the black bars are placed there by hardware

and i fell for no scam, i think its funny as fuck :P

True Story:

I ripped Clerks DVD for my own collection, and I accidently told it to do bars... Not knowing it was CREATING bars (it was my first rip) And on my POS P2 450 it took like 40 hours, and the result was a Croped Croped image. I was more pissed than Winona Ryder when she got caught for shop lifting! 40 hours! *sigh*

i burned dis and the crap doesnt werk

Posted by fluffykiwi on 12-03-2002 03:54 AM:

First movie I've burnt that doesnt work in my Standalone DVD player, and it plays all sort of weird stuff.
I've no idea what they did to this one, but it plays ok on the comp only if I open the mpeg. Even the comp doesnt recognise this as a svcd.
In my opinion not worth the download time, shame as it looks a reasonable copy.

Oh and I prefer WS even on my 28" non WS TV I dont care how big the bars I want to see the whole movie.
If the pic is too small then sit closer
