Euh, the .nfo is crap. Doesn't say anything useful. Why is there a spanish track?? Is the video recoded?

Posted by omega59 on 11-22-2005 03:48 PM:

i will be sticking with the R4 release it was flawless

Release is fine

The release is fine.. I watched it and not a problem... Have either of you seen it or just bitching becuase it isnt yet available on p2p and so you have nothing better to do???? Seriously, try watching the release before moaning... Nfo might be vague but then again if thats the case, you download and see.. BW is cheap... Not like it costs a fortune... Anyhow good release JKR... and nothing wrong with the release..but my 2 cents.

Speaking from firsthand knowledge, this release is a good one. As with the other release, this has Spanish audio. If there's room for it and bitrate is still high, then why not.
I would like to see a better nfo, but that's no reason to badmouth this release.

Just finished checking this out. Oddly, neither the JKR or the CopyCat release are too hot.

Before I begin to explain, I will say, there is nothing wrong with this release. The presence of the Spanish track is odd, but that's about it. ::EDIT - To answer the question above about re-encoding or not. This release is re-encoded at 4950kbit/sec approx... Which is a REAL healthy bitrate. CopyCat release was slightly lower at around ::EDIT2 - It's 4620kbit/sec... Didn't see the Spanish was 5.1 and not 2.0:: ::

The R1 source (assuming JKRs release is R1), has really dull colors. The reds are just absent (this includes skin tones and flames, which there is lots of). I doubt JKR removed the reds from the encode, but rather the source isn't as good. The picture is much softer, and no artifacting (this is an encode option for sure).

The CopyCat R4 release had really nice colors, but artifacting was plentiful. The image is sharp, but on larger screens (and picky eyes), you'll see quite a bit. But that is the price for encoding a sharper image.

JKR release is good because it has only a 73 meg single language menu, instead of the 191 meg triple lang jobbie the R4 has. But oddly the Spanish 2.0 track is there.

Neither of these releases have DTS.

Video 8/10 - I rather have softer with no artifacting myself. But the R1 source seems to have crappier color. No fault to JKR.

DVD-R 9/10 - Perfect other than the Spanish track. But I won't be too ignorant, there are many Spanish people that will appreciate it

The BEST version out there is the DVD-9 of the R4! It's out there and has sharp picture with vibrant color. Must be the chilis down there that add all the spicy vibrance Not to mention has a DTS track. So it's worth forking out the $2.25 to buy a DL disc!!

For those that don't believe me, get all 3 and do a capture compare...

Posted by Redemption1980 on 11-22-2005 08:48 PM:

Yeah agreed, the DVD9, if its the same one, is very nice, not sure if im gonna burn it or strip it down myself, not sure if the movie is good enough to warrant a DL Disc.

This is ok, when you dont have anything to compare it to, but not so when you do.

8/9/6

porco556, do u mean this one, or is there another one, as i have Spanish, Portugese and a Commentary track on mine, but no DTS

Shit, you're right... There is no DTS. I jumped the gun on that one. Thanks for the correction. I saw 4 tracks and assumed it without checking it out. But yeah, the NFE release was the DVD-9 of the R4.

Now thinking about it, it's not worth a DL Well, that's $2 I am never seeing again...

So, now waiting for the R1 DVD-9 Another 8 gigs. Grand total of 24 gigs for this one movie (warming up for Blu-Ray releases )

If I may ask what does BW stand for?

::EDIT:: Bandwidth - NS::

Posted by Redemption1980 on 11-23-2005 03:01 AM:

LOL, yeah, only Region1 and 3 versions have a DTS soundtrack, no DTS on Region2 which is my Region.

Things like that and the speed up have changed me into a Region1 only buyer mostly.

24GB total, have you watched this movie yet, Any Good? is it really worth all that, though Bandwith is cheap these days.

So the moral of the story is, wait for the DVD9 of the Region1 version as this is as good as it gets.

I never understood the bandwidth thing. I have unlimited D/l bandwidth (I hit around 250gig down a month). I got kicked off a few providers before getting here. I pay $25/mnth for 3mb/s down and 1mb/s... But I'll tell ya, 3mbit down is REALLY starting to feel slow. And 1mb up is just poor ass slow.

As for the slow down you mentioned on R2. I thought those slowdowns ONLY happen when you play a PAL movie on an NTSC DVD player... If you are watching PAL in 50Hz, it should be perfect...

Is the movie any good... Well, it's another Marvel movie. I liked it, but I like most comic book stuff... Hated Elektra and Catwoman (was that even considered comic book? It was comical, but not in a good way)... Not as good as Spider-Man though. Reminds me of X-Men with different characters Pretty much, that is all it is.

Posted by Redemption1980 on 11-23-2005 04:30 AM:

By bandwith being Cheap, i meant as i have unlimited B/W it is very cheap, done 136GB in the last week (damn HDTV streams)

Im on DSL 8mb Down, 576k Up for £20 a month, but moving to 24mb Down 1.3mb Up soon for £24, so it will be even cheaper then

Didnt mean slowdowns, meant the sound being speeded up for PAL DVD's, if im used to the movie or TV Programme in NTSC, when its on DVD over here, the voices sound totally different to me, and it annoys the hell out of me, so now i only buy NTSC if i can help it, another thing is i prefer 60hz to 50hz also.

I think i will try and live without the DTS and see what i can do myself with the R4 DVD9.

this versions is great i watched both copycat and jkr both are good. the jkr version is stripped of previews and all the audio that would keep the movie at 100% and not recode only thing that was stripped was the audio DTS because that was to much for a DVD5.
I know this because i have a R1 DVD9 and did all the stuff i'm guessing the same way and VID is at 100% only audio is gone to make it fit on the DVD5

The R1 is just under 9 gigs and it has about 3 gigs worth of useless crap like previes and extras. and like a gig of DTS audio

JKR nice rls the r4 does have better color i wonder where and why they didt rls that on a R1. lol

big ups to JKR and hope to see more great pres from this STV group
