GREAT to see thank guys.

The quality is still rubbish. Its not Emerald's fault.

Fox clearly hate this film as its a DVD10. With 3.4GB for the movie and 3 audio tracks as well. Same washed out colours and general bad picture.

I just want to state again what the above poster said. This isn't Emerald fault.

The picture looks like total crap. It's blurry and out of focus. I've only seen the sample so I could be wrong but I don't think so...

WTF is going on??? Was the movie filmed this way???????????

This is the Retail DVD, NoNe23 your not gonna be able to rent a better one, every version has looked like this, its obviously how its supposed to be, so this is the best its gonna get it seems.

7/9/?

Not the groups fault, but i couldnt rate it any higher.

Great idea an internal of a DVD5 that will be a great pre you should do it maybe label as Proper R1 lol

The first audio track on the sample is French... hope it's not the same once I burn it. The video quality is, as previously stated, poor. It's hard to believe this was a studio produced film. It's like they didn't want to spend the cash on quality DVD mastering.

Oh well, what can you do.

Judging on the sample and some random RARs:
A: 9
V: 9
M: ?

Emerald couldn't realy have done a better job with the rip. If I was rating FOX's original effort, it'd be a 5 for audio and a 2 for video.

Well hold your horses...

Well I was expected to see some manure of a movie with the comments above.

I didnt think it was bad quality.

I have seen that type of colors before with other movies. Maybe its a trend to have that kind of tint ?

Absolutly watchable and I'm a happy camper with this one.

Well ive gotin a few rars of both rips a im going with the Tube one..colors are the same and its much more shaper and detailed..take rar 70 of Tubes and rename it to .vob and have a look at the great fight scene clear and detailed the whole way through ! i give Emeralds a 8.5 / 10 / 9 good flick

All of these "retail" "dvdrip"'s are just Telecines.

Obviously they got a hookup with Audio though somewhere.

Go on yahoo and look at the trailers for this movie, you'll clearly see the movie isn't supposed to have that yellowish/greenish tint to it. All of that is caused by the telecine conversion.

Now that's just an asinine comment. When was the last time you saw a group create a professional, full-motion DVD menu for a telecine release? Do you know how much different a TC is from a mastered DVD? Even one that's as poorly produced as this one has unmistakable qualities... no reel change marks, no interference or lens pollution, multiple audio tracks, etc.

Go on Yahoo and learn a bit before commenting.

OK... This MAY sound odd, but this release is not that bad. It is not as good as it could be, but think about that you're getting a 1:1 copy of the same movie that people are going to pay $20 for.

The video is soft, but not blurry. It is also sharp at the same time in some places. It reminds me of Bad Boys II video. Grainy at time, soft at times, sharp at times, but unless you buy the Superbit version, you're stuck with it. I think Fox is just waiting to release the Superbit of this just like it did with Transporter 1. Gimmicks is all these companies know, so if you are serious about the movie, just wait for that. Can't get anything better than what you have anyways.

Video 7/10 - You know, it's not that bad. Granted, it is not that great either. Not sure what people were expecting. I stayed away because of the posts, but then my modem lights weren't blinking so I went for it. And I am happy I did. I've seen much worse (ie: Flightplan).

:: EDIT - Quite a bit of macroblocking in fast action/panning scenes and water. This is quite often since car chases occur. The colors also looked a little over contrasted IMO. Still, NOT bad. But even further from great ::

BY CHANCE!!! Did anyone that gave it low scores check only RARs like 2-18? Because those are the deleted scenes and they are 4:3 and REALLY crappy. I am thinking some people jumped the gun on this one.

Well Porco i havent heard your opinion on Tubes release yet but like i had said take rar 70 of tubes, fast action fight scene thats sharp and clear with no blockyness at all ..and compare to Emeralds soft and i say a bit blury and slight marco blocking like you said ...both are allround good working copys but if your into clear picture quality like me ,i gave Tubes alot more points hands down.

HMM... I misread your post. I thought you meant Emeralds was better. I'll get Tubes and see. I even thought the PAL version I had a while ago from Shinbet was better than this...

I'll check out Tubes release.

:: EDIT - Ya... Tube's is better. It is sharper and much less blocking. Got more edge enhancement (not a good thing, but it doesn't bother me all that much personally) than the Emerald one, but the increased bitrate makes faster moving scenes a lot better. Colors are a bit redder again (just like the R4 for Fantastic Four, but not as much). I got rid of the menu and just kept the movie. I guess I'll hold onto both. I prefer the video in the Tube release. BUT, the Emerald is the R1 retail. ::
