FS is never better, no matter your opinion or TV, WS is how the movie was intended to be shown.
You wouldn't want to go to the Cinema and watch it on a big Square screen it would look shit, and everyone would complain.

As for this, okay, a bit grainy though, DVDR looks a better option.

3 posts, 2 mentioning quality of the release.
Batting 66% ain't bad I guess.

But let's up it to 75% here.
Good clean picture, and I won't argue that I am hoping that this is like Shrek 2 was (FS then WS), so I only downloaded a few rars to see a sample and it's typical CTP + DVD = Great SVCD.

If FS is your thing, you got kids to show it to, and don't have a DVD Burner, then here's pretty much the best you can get before buying the retail.

9/9/9 Enjoyed it a lot, blah blah blah.

weee..finally, hopefully ws will be out soon, but i'll grab this. Didn't care for the movie much, i think the directing ruined it, but that's just my opinion...glad they have a new director for the next movie.

Picture could be better, sound is perfect imo. Movie was just so-so. I hate it when they make "serious" movies funny .. like king arthur for example, and this one.

This movie was shot with Super 35 mm film, and that means that the FS cut actually shows more of the frame than the WS cut does.

OK
1. thats not true. because its an open matte frame the fs and ws image are always different. sometime the fs will show more and sometimes the ws image will.
2. He didnt say anything about WS showing more. He said it was how the movie was meant to be seen. Since the theatrical release is widescreen, I think thats how it was meant to be seen.

OK
1. Of course the FS and the WS versions will be different. Being that this was shot on 35mm film, which has an aspect ration of 1.37:1, you only lose very little when cropping it to 1:33:1 (4:3). The FS version will always show more in this case, do the math
2. As long as we're nitpicking, then I never said that the FS version was how it was meant to be seen either It's really up to the director in this case - maybe he only had the WS cut in mind when he framed the pictures, maybe he had both the WS and the FS versions in mind (more likely). And again, of course the theatrical version is widescreen - I don't think you'll find many 4:3 movie theatres nowadays.

Yes, I did mean that the WS was how it was meant to be seen, not which version show more image.

I doubt the Director had the WS and FS image in mind when filming, thats not how most Directors think, but that is how Studios think.
And i imagine all the FS people would hate it to go to a 4:3 Cinema, probably most would ask why it wasn't Full Screen.

Maybe im nitpicking now, but thats wrong. Standard 35mm film actually has a ratio of 1:33:1 so there is no cropping, but Super35mm has the soundtrack lines removed, and they are used to film, so the AR is now 1:66:1.

Also the special effects for films are usually created for the WS version only, as using the whole film area takes more time and costs more money, so is hardly used, so most Special effects shots are cropped from the WS version.
