Smokin' Aces

Any of you Yankistanis had the good fortune to see this yet?

Saw the teaser a few weeks back and it gave me a stiffy. Just saw a trailer on the Crank DVD and I needed a full pack of tissues to wipe off my jism!

It's directed by Joe Carnahan, the man behind one of the best movies of the past few years, Narc - yet another 'bad cop' movie that casts a massive shadow over The Betrayed. It's his first (proper) movie for 4 years (his only other work being an excellent short for 'The Hire' BMW series...starring Statham from Crank...small world, eh?) and looks to be exactly the sort of movie I want studios to be making.

Check it: TRAILER

Just caught the trailer and it does look good.

One thing tho, I think the Statham flick Transporter was loosly based on some of the BMW Hire series, but he wasnt actually in any of them.

Carnahan short was the Ticker episode, with Don Cheadle and Ray Liotta, about the heart in the briefcase.

Doh! Yeah, it's Clive Owen, not Statham. For some reason I always get them mixed up...argued blind with the g/f once that it was Statham in Croupier...she couldn't remember the name but knew it wasn't Statham...and I had to eat humble pie when we got back to hers and she pulled out the DVD

Clive Owen is great in most of the things he is in, I still think he would have made a very good Bond.

I just watched the trailer of 'Aces again, and you right it does seems like the studios should be making.

I like the fact that you have so many parties involved, not just 1 good guy vs 1 bad guy. Gives huge scope for various character development, plot lines and special effects. Also the films overall success does not fall on one persons shoulders.

IMDB has Jason Bateman cast, can anyone tell me which character he plays, dont think I saw him in the trailer?

EDIT: One chance...ask where to download movies again and you'll be banned. Only warning. .P

I have seen this movie, it is fantastic, like an American Lock Stock.

Watched this tonight, my kind of movie, really enjoyed it.

Lots going on, lots of side stories, had a twist at the end which I saw coming from a mile away, although they did twist the twist so it wasn't exactly what I expected.

Ben Affleck was treated as he should be, won't spoil it for you but when you see it you will know what I mean.

All in all, aces all round.

P.S Does liking this but hating Babel make me a Peasant? Don't care if it does, Babel SUCKED AIDS INFECTED HOOKER CUNT

I thought this film was shit.

A mish mash of story lines thats creates a big steaming turd of a film.

Lock stock is a billion times better.

I will be going to see this one for sure!

Did you actually try to fit as many spoilers as possible into a single sentence? If so, congrats, you did pretty well.

trailer was amazing...movie was shit.

Superbly crafted movie. Great ending too, defines a storyline that stretches credibility...but, considering what came before, it works well. A balance between lots of outlandish characters with brief cameos and plenty of time spent drawing the few main ones: Keys and her partner are good, Liotta is at his best, Reynolds is better.

I could definitely watch that again. And I probably will soon when I put it on for friends.

7.198752/10 (It lost 0.312765 for being a crime movie, having multiple characters all with their own timelines, and therefore, by definition, being too much like Lock Stock )

I saw this the other night and was bored senseless.

It just seems like a completely pointless movie that just left me bored and pissed off I wasted 100 or so minutes on it.

Boring.
