14.30mb... any reasons why?
I was just wondering why many of my dls are rar archive splitted in 14.30mb, any reason why this particular number?
Sorry if i post this in the wrong section, i was wondering if this should go here or the newbies section...
14.3MiB = 15,000,000 bytes.
I could be wrong but I think it's the maximum sized file that can be sent as an email attachment?
scene rules?
Gmail upload is now max 20mb...
Yeah... but that number was in use long before email servers allowed anything close to 15MB
I remember when we didn't have .rar splits of ANY size. We had pkzip at a prompt and we LOVED it, we didn't need to split the files, and we kicked the shit out of anyone who insisted that we needed to.
Fucking kids today.

you remember incorrectly. classic scene releases were just like 0day releases of today, multi archive splits over floppies.

there is no maximum file size limit on usenet, some people choose to upload DVDs as single files, sucks if you are missing a single segment though
