Review:2003-Freddy vs. Jason w/Robert England, and Kelly Rowland
Freddy vs. Jason movie review
with Robert England
Finally after more than 10 years, the two baddest, and best boogymen go toe to toe, in a long awaited sequel for Freddy Kruger (once again portrayed by Robert England) and Jason Voorhees (this time played by Ken Kirzinger, played him in the terrible Jason X). Hong Kong action director Ronny Yu makes Freedy versus Jason a well worth it film as I was clamoring for more.
Plot: Freddy has become powerless in hell, the kids on Elm Street have forgotten about him, thanks to the dream suppressants their parents gave them. So not to keep a good boogeyman down, Freddy sends Camp Crystal Lake Killer Jason Voorhees out to terrorize the residents of Elm Street in an interesting sub plot that will get Freddy his power back.
Jason literally racks up the bodies big time, in kill after kill after kill, which the kills literally feed into Freddy and gets him out of Hell. I wont say how he gets out of hell, but it is some paternal help that gets him there.
Now the problem is Jason will not leave Elm Street, cause as we all may know from the previous Friday the 13th movies, Jason lives to kill, and its a Battle between the two evil Boogyman, to see who gets top dog.
The popularity of the Elm Street movies always knows there has been strong leading women, and if there is a down side to Freddy vs. Jason this is where the weakest link lies as
actress Monica Keena, plays the obligatory virgin Freddy goes after.
There is a major body count, I wont say who racks up what kills, but the two battles between Jason and Freddy are what Horror Movie making is all about.
Freddy vs. Jason is simply off the hook, but if you can have a good guy to cheer for, I guess it would be Freddy.
Anyways, Freddy vs. Jason is rated R for Language, Violence, and Nudity.
Freddy vs. Jason opens on August 15, 2003, and gets a rating of 7.5 out of 10.

Meh... I couldn't be less excited about this film. Freddy's Nightmare on Elm St films got boring real quick and the Jason films have just turned into a joke.
I might catch this in a couple of years when it appears on late night TV!

No way dude! I'm just back from seeing this and you so want Jason to whoop his ass!
Liked this movie. Good fright moments and plenty of them. Fanboys in the audience made for a good atmosphere in the cinema, even cheering for the trailers (admittedly, Kill Bill, Underworld and Cabin Fever look awesome!).
8/10

hm...I've heard her perform on Leno or some show. she's actually pretty good.
Spoilers
Well, it pains me to be the one who isn't all over this film, but I left the theater pretty dissatisfied, until I thought about it, and came to the conclusion that Yu did all he could with what little he had to work with.
Not that F vs J didn't have good stuff. The body count was big, the violence was excellent, and we got some tits too (if Katherine Isabelle didn't use a body double, GOD DAMN! I'll be using the slow mo on the dvd thats for fuckin sure). The problem is that you have 2 completely overplayed horror icons, one who doesnt speak, and the other who spits out garbage from his previous films which have become tiresome (how many times did he say "bitch"? like come on, give the guy some depth). They did try to expand the stories of the 2 monsters a little bit, but honestly, I found the whole town conspiracy and drugging of the kids more interesting. And despite the ridiculous plot, the movie actually had the nerve to take itself seriously, which is the fatal blow. At the point where Freddy is dragged into the real world and has that funny staredown with Jason with the metal playing on the soundtrack, i sat up and thought GOD DAMN, FINALLY WE GET SOME GOOD STUFF, and then about 5 minutes later, the fight turns into some kind of suspense thing. Sorry, big mistake. Instead of making something that people can get drunk and cheer at, we got something to laugh at instead because it's so pathetic. I won't even get into how horribly wasted Lochlyn Munro and Isabelle were, I guess having talent in a movie like this is a nono anyways. And come on Freddy, you couldn't tear that virgin's shirt open? dammit.
4/10 -1 for the violence, 1 for the tits, 1 for the funny wink at the end, and 1 for kelly rowland getting killed, i felt like cheering at that point, classic. fuck her.
well this movie is much better than the so called analysts thought.
$35+ at box office. whats up with that ?? :P

Wouldn't it be something if Jason vs Freddy out did T3? Boy that would wrinkle Arnolds feathers. It will probably die at the theaters quck but I wouldn't doubt if it could squeek out 80 million.
I think alot of the success of FvsJ can be attributed to the power outage on the east coast. Once the power came on people wanted something to do. Lets just say this movie was in the right place at the right time.
If I'm not mistaken this movie has already made back what was spent to make it. I can't think of any movie that has done that all summer. Making back the cost of production in one weekend makes this movie a success in my book. Of course the bigwigs at New LIne cinema will now want to roll even more money into the sequel which may come back to bite them in the ass.
I wish that Costner movie would have done better pulling in around 15 mill(?) seems kinda disapointing doesn't it. I decided to see Open Range this weekend over FvsJ, and I don't want to take anything away from FvsJ which was a fun movie but Open Range should have made an easy 25+ mill.
