Am I burning DVD's in the fastest way possible?

I've been burning DVD's for only a few months now, and I've gotten quite used to the formula I currently use. I was wondering though if there was tweaks to my formula that would speed up my productivity.

I would like to point out that I'm on a processor of 2.00 GHZ, and 384 MB of RAM.

For AVI's, I

1. Extract the audio with VirtualDubMod, usually about 30 minutes.
2. Convert Audio "usually MP3" to WAV, about 3 minutes.
3. Encode the two into an MPG using TMPGenc, which takes about 2-4 Hours.
4. Burn using DVD MovieFactory 4, which takes an hour.

All together, about 6 hours of work.

For VCD's, I

1. Mount the .bin/.cue with Daemon Tools.
2. Go into My Computer/The Virtual Drive/MPG folder, and I copy the AVE001 or whatever it's called to my desktop.
3. I'll do this for however many CD's there are, then I use MPEG Tools in TMPGenc to join them all together.
4. I use DVD MovieFactory 4 to encode/burn it, which usually takes about 4 and a half hours.

The main thing I thought I could speed up is the fourth VCD step, thinking that there has to be something that allows me to make a menu, while also not taking almost 5 hours to burn.

I prefer to use DVD's over CD's, since most of the people I give these to don't want 3 CD's for one movie.

I use only one software to burn to dvd. I use Nero with nero vision software to burn to dvd, it encodes Avi and mpg (svcd/vcd) to dvd format, if more than one CD, I merge them. Takes about 3 to 4 hours.

I use winAVI, baby. If it's in avi or mpg format, just drop them all in, if in cue/bin format (SVCD), then extract the mpeg files using isobuster (second choice when you right click on the file), and then drop those mpegs in. Pick a place to put your final files, make sure your advance settings are correct (usually only have to check or uncheck AC3 choice depending if files have AC3 audio or not), and let it go. Come back about an hour or 2 later, files are ready to burn using Nero. Simple, and works 99% of the time. The other 1% is either screwed encode or winavi wants to create it onto 2 or more dvds. But that happens rarely.

I have a pretty shitty broadband connection, my normal on torrents is usually 30 kb, while mIRC I usually bottle at 300.

And downloading a 1.4 Gig AVI in an hour and a half?

Man, that must be nice o_O.

I'll look into WinAVI though, thanks for your advice guys.

For avi's

Just did The Island XVID - DVD (2 cd's) in 1hr 15 mins, 30mins encoding per cd and 15 mins to burn. Although speed isnt an issue if your going for quality. If its worth it i sometimes use The Film Machine with CCE on 2 passes, cant remember how long it takes though.

For VCD/SVCD

SVCD2DVD, nothing else. For a 2 cd SVCD, just drag in the bin files and click quick DVD and burn (with DVDDecrypter), about 30 mins later, out pops a nice shiny dvd. I know its kinda cheating, but why reencode to dvd if theres no need to? plus you can put in a menu screen with audio if required.

just a side note. i know that on my dvd players (( and my ps2 )) i haft to burn at 1x or 2x to get the dvd-r's to play correctly. its a trial and error process.

i use dvd santa to convert avi files but sometimes the film can get jumpy

anyone else use this programme, or can anyone suggest a better programme

Pyto, I use a similar process. My friend tried to teach me in about 30 minutes, but I learned alot on my own. It takes me about 5-6 hours average. I use TMPGEnc to merge or split audio/video files. And i use DVD complete to create an Image file so I can always have em' on hand ready to burn. And I burn with DVD Decrypter/Alcohol 120%/ or Nero if I only have the VIDEO TS files. Im still trying to perfect the art of burning dvd's myself!

dvdrips or tc's i use vso divx to dvd. takes between 45min-1hr for a film.

for svcd ts/cam i use tmpgenc at the highest bitrate possible to maintain the highest quality possible because the source isnt top-notch to start with...then author with tmpgenc dvd author

i dl at a max of 60kbps. 8-9 hrs to dl a 2cd avi, 30hrs to dl a dvdr, 4hrs to dl a 1cd xvid.

takes me just less than 2hrs to convert an xvid movie to dvd format in total.

to be honest, recently havent been bothered converting avi's, no need to, just slap em in my box. long live XBMC!

don't worry about converting-get a philips dvp642 dvd player and just burn the files as a data disk with nero slap em in the philips and turn on the burner-that's the quickest and the philips dvd player runs about $56 at walmart -plays avi,mpegs,xvid,divx,dcvcd,kvcd -never found anything that it won't play yet

Oh, it's just JC

with my P4 and 1gig ram

winavi will convert a avi/mpeg to dvd in 20 mins. and nero will burn it at 2 speed which i recomend in 20 mins.

so entire job takes 45 mins tops.

Out of all the programs I have tried VSO Divx to DVD has worked the best.......just drop an AVI in and it converts it to DVD then just burn with nero. Its very fast and have had no problems with it unlike other programs and it will join files together automatically when its converting
