Fan stopped
The little fan on my 6600gt has stopped working.
Is there anyway to fix it?
Buy a new fan, a screwdriver then take the fan housing off and replace the fan.
If it's not screwed in, it should just pop out with plastic tabs. Don't force them out else you'll likely break the card.
Job done.
Just keep using it, it doesn't need a fan. Blow on it every hour or so to keep it cool.
try keeping some cool water in a spray bottle....leave the cover off and spray down the motherboard every hour or so...and dont forget to get the wall outlet too

Pop it in the pink you trolling fucks (sheesh!)
Mystic has the right idea! The fans tend to use standard sizes and connectors so you should be able to buy a replacement quite easily. Either that or look on one of those overclocking sites for a super-duper purpose made one.

you can always replace the fan. i had a 6600gt (replaced it with the XFX 1750) and the fan comes right off. just make sure to use a non-magnetic screw driver (actually, you need 2 of them. i had to use a flathead to pop it off once the screws were out) and for god's sake, wear a grounding strip! they're like $5 and worth every cent. attaching the new fan is easier than taking it off, so you should be good after that.

People still use grounding straps?!?! Just make sure the power is unplugged before you go pulling the card out and reinstalling it.

well you don't have to use a grounding strap, but i highly recommend it. microcircuits are highly susceptible to ESD and most ppl don't have grounded mats to work on. i've destroyed many a PCB due to ESD. please, for the love of god, use the strap.

Either that transfer the static to several balloons... Rub them against your head until you can safely stick them to the ceiling. It takes approximately 14 baloons to fully store the static contained in a human head. Once you've finished your repairs, burst the balloons against your face to return the static to your body otherwise your brain can overheat when you sleep.
N.B. No sausage-shaped balloon, just normal "balloon-shaped" ones, ok?
