we've been blocking links to packetnews here on the forum, and discussion of it cos of its dodgy nature. x69 obviously doesn't mind linkin to this service, but im still a bit wary of talkin bout these places, as people might get a bit carried away if you know what i mean

I find it rather ironic that the rules clearly state:

yet you link people directly (even do the search for them) to a website that posts exact info on where to download a SPECIFIC movie from IRC.

well hopefully the link will draw attention away from us then. as its not us telling people how to do shit, then we can't be busted anymore than a search engine would be for listing it.

i think its great because it is right there but like pho said 99% of the visitors of the site will never even see it. just like this post being here in this forum it is unlikley that many will catch onto it. hell its right on the front page of my downloader and most people visiting that site wont even notice because it is to much effort to read a few words.

i dont think any of these sites, including this one, do anything that violates law but the rules about discussing specifics on the forums are obviously in the best interest of the site just to keep it from becoming a request filled cesspool. if people dont want to do anything and dont want to put in any effort then there is a site for them. its called sharereactor and they dont mind their forum over run with nothing but request after request.

i do admire your spirit to point out the hipocrisy kilo but i think im turning into a hypocrite so i say big thumbs up to VCDQ here.

thanks pho i know what a dcc is and like you say most people will not even click on and it serves two purposes it is a useful addy for the dedicated and it is more descrete than people making doggy threads that attract attention

ircn pluggin does not support mirc version 6.00 or above (says it may delete all your settings use at your own risk)i have version 6.01 anyone tried it and did it work on this version

what makes mydownloader better than packetnews?

yea i must say i found it odd that u linked to mydownloader.. but ist better than packetnews ....

i like both when i cant find something on a site of mine.... the xdcc world blew up over the last year or so.. its crazy

both of em are fine, mydownloader has only gone down one time since i joined, packetnews has been down a lot of times.

either way, perhaps x69 just likes the guy workin MD better, perhaps PN dont like him, who is to question it lol.

sometimes i get more hits from one than the other, bottom line to it is using both works extreemly well.

both are flirting with interps of dcma and it may get squirrly!

I originally was going to use packetnews.. When i approached the owner of packetnews and asked him to change one little thing for me he told me he did not need my traffic b/c he was already getting 300k hits a day or something.. so i said screw them and told a friend of mine what happened.. and he said he had been working on something similar to packetnews for a while.. and when he got his site ready to go we linked to each other..
