BSG, Heroes, Surface....and???
OK, so I've been reading some of what you retards have been saying in other threads and taking action - not a good policy for maintaining sanity!
BSG I've been down with since day 1. Heroes, mostly cos Dwaggy has been wanking it up, I just caught the first 3 episodes (which I think is all so far). Loving it. Besides, it has Ali Larter in skimpies and there is no greater quality stamp (other than Ali nekkid...but I can't get a hold of that movie: '3-way'...let me know if anyone sees it doing the rounds
). I like that it's slightly more adult than the usual sci-fi series (i.e. the guy cut in half in the garage and the cheerleader's ribs/head wound/ and the excellent autopsy
And Surface I just caught the first 2 episodes of. Looks interesting, a bit more pre-teen than I'd like, but I like it enough to have the rest of the series coming down. This has the most potential to go the way of 'Lost' which I don't bother with any more as it disappeared up its own rectum. I hope they keep the focus and the story actually goes somewhere without turning into the inevitable soap opera that seems to be the manna of every US television company.
So, as I'm someone who watches almost no TV at all - Dr Who and House are about the only shows I turn on TV for - and have little idea what's available unless I get recommendations, what else is worth catching?
They don't all have to be sci-fi, I'm planning to do a marathon session of Sleeper Cell at some point, but sci-fi is what I'm in to.
[Prison Break I've seen a few episodes of, it's OK. I know the CSI's/Stargates/Treks, looking more for something I may not have heard of.]
Well, Torchwood starts this Sunday on BBC3. Dunno if it's going to be any good or just a crap spinoff.
I thought Sleeper cell was a load of tosh, a cheap copy of 24, which is the dogs bollocks.
I was reliably informed that spooks was good so over the past couple of weeks I have been watching nothing much else but the first 4 series of that, all caught up now, verdict : first 2 seasons fantastic, 3rd series wank, 4th series getting better again, 5th season so far even better than the 4th. Biggest gripe is that they have either killed off or fired nearly all the original cast and replaced them with prettier but duller cockwits. Stories are good though so its very watchable.
Sleeper cell was pretty good imo. Certainly not 24 but its entertaining
I had pretty much the same experience with Spooks. Really liked S1 & S2 and then lost interest early in S3, haven't seen it since about E3 or E4 of that season.
Same for 24 with me. The first season was one of the most involved thrillers ever! (And they really should've left it there.) S2 was OK, but not as impressive as the first. Lost interest early to mid of S3.
Up to E8 of Surface...and my fears are starting to come true
Very few monsters and lots of plot and fart-arsing around with conspiracies and supervillain types.
Torchwood, yeah, thanks Mother. Remember seeing a trailer for it not that long ago. Bit worried that it'll be full of man-love storylines
Hopefully there'll be enough plot, fx and thrills to get past that.
Surface had great potential....
alas.. it was cancelled
Mondays: Heroes, Prison Break
Tuesdays: Veronica Mars, House
Wednesday: Lost
Thursday: Supernatural, Smallville
Friday: BSG
The only Sci-Fi one you haven't already mentioned is supernatural which is pretty good, into its second season now and you really need to watch season 1 first.
Veronica Mars (not Sci-fi) is a nice little surprise, the idea sounds shit but the series are surprisingly well written and have lots of little twists and turns. Series 3 is being aired at the moment.
Supernatural is not bad at all, Eureka is alright. If you missed life on mars first time round that a great show not sure when season 2 is starting. Jericho also is one to watch . theres also a pilot of a show knocking about faceless is ment to be good haven't watched it myself.
Surface ended badly btw its a real we ran out of paper while finishing it, although they probably knew they were going to cancel the show so they rushed it.
Some more shows for me to check out. Excellent!
***Surface Spoilers***
I absolutely loved Surface! It did have a couple of episodes in the middle that were too involved with twisting the plot development and had little on the monsters/action, but it picked up swiftly afterwards.
If anything the first 15 episodes were one massive pilot (IMO) to get us to the 'new world order' - in more ways than one, not just the rebalance of land/sea that gives the Nessies the upper hand, but also the seemingly intentional destruction of the ridge plates (and Noah's Ark) created by Dressler to wipe out existing civilisations. Real, real shame that they've chosen not to extend it, seems like the mindless rambling drivel shows run indefinitely and the ones that keep moving and developing (with direction and meaning) get cancelled
***END SPOILERS***
Was also recommended a show called Dexter...about a serial killing coroner. Watched the first 20mins of E1 where he tortures and disposes of a paedophile...and then a flashback to his childhood where as a cute child he explains to his stepdad why he killed the neighbours dog...amongst other neighbourhood wildlife
I may like this show, but not seen enough yet to decide.
This Dexter sound interesting I'll give it a look

Please don't say that. I got the first Series and watched it within a few days. I was eagerly awaiting series 2 - only now to discover that it has been cancelled.
What a waste. This had serious potential - Boo Hoo

I'd recommand Dexter great idea for a different type of show, and dexter plays the part very well
Studio 60 on the sunset strip is pretty fun, if you liked the west wing you'll probably like it.
Even though sometimes is feels like a thinly veiled excuse to shout "LOOK AT HOW LOLBERAL WE ARE, FUCK!!!!!"
Dexter became very bleh...
However Studio 60 is great. Never saw West Wing, but Studio 60 is by far one of the most entertaining shows. If you hate Matthew Perry, watch it! If you like Matthew Perry, watch it!
I liked Invasion, but it was canceled along with Surface which I watched too.

I should stop trying to watch series, cause it's so annoying when they get cancelled.
