Official Red Dragon Movie Review

At long last the prequel to the Oscar winning movie, Silence of the Lambs was remade to the big screen, and once again Academy Award Winner Anthony Hopkins reprises his role as the psychotic Dr. Lector.

In the first of his series of novels by Thomas Harris, in 1981, introduced the first called Red Dragon.

Director Brett Ratner (Rush Hour 2) is at the helm as the film also stars Ed Norton (Primal Fear), another noteworthy actor in the role of ex-FBI agent Will Graham who almost lost his life at the hands of the elusive Dr. Lector.

Years later, Graham is called out of retirement to assist in apprehension of a psychotic killer in the form of Ralph Fiennes (English Patient), but to catch the killer Graham realizes his best ally is his former nemesis, Dr. Lector.

Red Dragon was remade from a 1980's film called Manhunter, and I think this version is much superior as we got the same chills that Anthony Hopkins gave in his original performance as he did in this film.

Edward Norton is always good as the much maligned ex FBI agent who has to match heads and wits with the psychotic killer in Fiennes and of course, Hopkins.

Red Dragon is a must see, as I thought this was much better in the silence sequel Hannibal.

Red Dragon is rated 'R' for language, graphic violence, and nudity

My rating: 10 out of 10

um to quote myself again and again, I am a professional movie critic, I have friends of friends of friends who have these screenings and this is one of the films I have seen.

I review movies for a Hawaii radio station, and a lot of the films you find on the net, don't even compare to what the "group" that I am friends with have.

This was a film I saw when I went to maui, and screened it at a hollywood producers home. He gets a ton of these pre releases, and with the stipulation that I not copy or dub it, I get to see these films and I report about it.
