Guitar Hero PC

I just got a copy of Guitar Hero 3 today. I plan on buying an Xbox 360 guitar for it since it's supported.

I know it's possible to use your PS3 controller on your PC with the help of a driver. Is it possible to use a PS3 guitar Hero guitar on your PC?

Does anyone know why the guitar hero guitars aren't compatable with Rock Band? That doesn't make since to me.

The Guitar Hero guitars work fine on Rock Band (that's what I personally use since I sold my Rock Band guitar), it's the other way around (i.e. the Rock Band guitars don't work on Guitar Hero).

The company that made Guitar Hero didn't want the guitars to be compatible with their game. Instead they wanted you to have to go out and fork out money for one of their guitars (or cheaper models).

I hear that with Guitar Hero World Tour (4) you'll be able to use your Rock Band controller (guitar, and drums and vice versa).

Heres what I found out, and it does work. I've been playing the game for about an hour. I haven't been able to get the Whammy bar to work, nor the star power, Don't know how to get em to work with this guitar. I'm sure it does, I just don't know how to do it.

Yep, I have the ps3 version of guitar hero. I downloaded the pc version as well as play frets on fire. Lets see first you need the Sixaxis Driver for PC. Which can be found.

. Ignore the filter driver for now.
. Unpack ps3sixaxis_en.exe
. Plug the SIXAXIS into your PC.
. Run ps3sixaxis_en.exe once.
. Push the PS button on the SIXAXIS once if it doesn't see it straight away.

About the usb filter driver. Be warned, as a user of vista home 32 it makes your USB not recognize anything if installed. Try this without the USB filter first in any case.

You need to have the reciever plugged into the USB before you start Joy2key.

When you open it, immediately click on the preferences tab and check "Use Axes other than x or y". Also, "use pov switches" if it isn't already checked.

Now here are what the buttons are for the ps3 controller:
Axis 3(>0) = Whammy
POV 1 UP /DOWN = Strum
button 1 => Square / Yellow
button 2 => X / Green
button 3 => O / Red
button 4 => Triangle / Blue
button 5 => L1 / Orange
Bouton 9 => Select

So as you can tell, for example which ever key (on your keyboard) is mapped to green, probably F1 in the case of FOF by default. You need to map "F1" to button 2 within Joy2key. The only problem i've run into is the whammy, and start button and using those with the pc version of GH3.

It's valid question, Cause you can't just plug it in and use it. You have to do a bit of research to do it.

It does ("get hard"). What mode do you play on? I will be getting Guitar Hero World Tour tonight, finally. I hope it's just as much of a challenge. I'm currently playing Rock Band 2. I've had it forever, and am just now starting to play it. It's decent.

I'm just about done with the game on Easy, I just got to Slayer and Metallica. Slayer was a bitch on easy, My bro hasn't been able to finish the song. I got through the song at about 80% or a bit more.

I can do some songs on Medium, I've went into hard and expert during practice and slowed the song down, That actually made it easier on Medium, lol.

Ha. You'll get the hang of it. I believe I started on Medium and now can play most (but definitely not all) Expert songs (on GH and RB).
