British Oscars
this is a short thread, but is this a prelude to real oscars??
Roman Polanski's The Pianist winning honors for Best Picture and Best Director at the British Academy Awards Sunday. Nicole Kidman won Best Actress for The Hours and Daniel Day-Lewis was named Best Actor for Gangs of New York.

saying that bafta's is a "british version" of the oscars is a bit wrong, and then call the oscars the "real" oscars... they're just award shows, they're not connected, and both mean shit at the end of the day. i wont be watching this years just like i didn't watch last years. or the years previous. or the one previous to that. fuck em, let em pat each other on the back for producing generally crap films, and let the most overrated film of the year (Chicago) pretend its better than most of the cinema produced worldwide. oh but theres a 'foreign film' category so thats ok. its like the "hey you guys, we know you'll never compete with us, so heres a little side award whilst we spend the night giving awards to awful directors and their pretentious piece of shit movies" award. just get it over and done with...
i'll watch the MTV movie awards instead, at least then i can laugh my ass off when The Hot Chick gets nominated for best film, and Rob Schneider walks off with a Lifetime Achievement award instead.
