Review (2003): What a Girl Wants with Amanda Bynes
i know i risk alienation with this review, but here goes
Nickoledean Cover girl Amanda Bynes headlines this family comedy about a girl who wants to find her father.
Bynes plays Daphene, a girl who always had dreams of reuniting with her long-lost aristocratic father, played by Bridget Jones Diary Colin Firth, while trying to tell her mom, played by Kelly Preston she will be alright.
In the complete style of The Princess Diaries, Daphene tries to fit in with her father's side of the family, while milking up the fish out of water sequence to a whole new level.
Once meeting her father, she shocks them with her rebellious nature in a snobby atmosphere, but Daphene lets that get her down.
Bynes has come a long way, even showing her stuff in Big Fat Liar with other child star Frankie Muniz.
Sadly despite its good premise, What a Girl Wants is a been there done that, which we have seen too many times.
What a Girl Wants is rated PG for Adult Situations and mild language.
My Rating: 5 out of 10.
