Toshiba D-R400 DVD Recorder - Is it PAL capable?
I'm thinking of getting the Toshiba D-R400 DVD Recorder. It's a low-end USA model.
I need to know if it plays PAL DVDs. I'm not talking about being region-free, just that if it's able to play all 25fps video. Alot of players will say some error like "Not NTSC", "Check TV System", "Cannot Play Disc", or "Invalid Disc"
.
I have a GoVideo R6740 DVD recorder that can play any framerate on my NTSC television. The player's tray no longer ejects and the AV signal it receives for recording shows occasionally gets jumpy and distorted
, so it's time for a new one. I loss faith in the GoVideo brand so I'm looking at Toshiba now.
Every product description I can find on the D-R400 doesn't say anything about this
. Alot of players can play 25fps VOBs created from 25fps MP4 files, but very few can play original PAL unre-encoded VOBs (region stripped from the IFO of course
) like the GoVideo players can.
Does anybody know of a USA DVD recorder under $200 that can play both NTSC and PAL without hassle?
You might want to look into importing a European unit, because over here almost every player will play both PAL and NTSC DVDs, even real low budget models.
