No this isn't a thread asking for keys, or anything illegal.

You may or may not know there's a certain clone cable box on the market that emulates
the official VM box (V1rgen med1a) that is.
Some time this year they all went down, and a few weeks later a new firmware was realised that fixed the problem.

in the down time, people had to enter the encryption keys manually every time VM rolled the keys.

Well, All the cloned boxes went down again last week and VM are rolling the keys almost every other hour right now.

My question is this,
well more of an enquiry really than a question.
If these boxes are clones of the VM boxes regarding software.
what is it (could it) be that VM have changed?

Ive no interest in hacking this shit myself, i'm just interested in how it all works.

please dont request keys or link to sites with copyrighted hex or bollox like that.
