Region coding has not been removed! Neither has a lot of annoying other stuff. There's a really bad forced promo for Blu-Ray and equally bad forced trailers for Harry Potter and Ace Ventura I could live without. The forced preview of Green Lantern is quite good but can't be accessed separately via the menu.

Although the video is "untouched" the picture quality was not that great to begin with and encoding artefacts are clearly visible in the fire scenes. The audio mix is not that great either and sound effects have been allowed to drown the often muffled dialogue. Fortunately there are subtitles in English and Spanish.

The movie is followed by an annoying copyright warning and then jumps to a special features menu which consists of just one item. This is a few minutes reading of an unfilmed scene from the book by the young actress who plays Meggie and is introduced by the authoress. All menus consist of a still frame with some fancy writing on them.
