I got a new dvd player and it plays everything i throw at it!!!

Its a Magnavox MDV450
89.00 usd at Blockbuster
It plays this

This is a great dvd player and its from the makers of the (S)VCD!!!! Philips!!! And its way better then an Apex, any apex, plus its got good hardware cause its from magnavox/philips!!!

i dont believe s/vcd has anything to do with philips.. they invented the cd, but s/vcd is a set of standards set up by a council, not a company afaik..

In mid-1993, Philips and JVC agreed to the Video CD specifications as later defined in the 'White Book'. The current version of the Video CD standard is 2.0 and has been published not only by Philips & JVC, but also by Sony and Matsushita (with Technics, National, Pioneer, Panasonic and others).

Super VCD (SVCD) standard is set by the China National Committee of Standards & Philips, Sony, Matsushita and JVC.

I always thought it was a council, but it sort of was.

I have the weirdest f'n dvd player its a pioneer dv-250 it plays svcd's but not on imation cd's it plays vcd on imation cd's though but not svcd's.
Also i had to take the mpeg from a burnt disc and reburn it with nero cause even though it was burnt on memorex cd it still didn't work. The dvd player also i don't believe has memory settings so if i put in a svcd i have to set it to a certain aspect ratio (16:9) and if i insert a dvd i have to change it to another aspect ratio(4:3 not pan scan). It pisses me off a little but the quality is far supurb to a apex and the player looks damn sweet.

it says Magnavox DVD Player-MDV450SL... do you have the MDV450SL? or the MDV450? or are they the same? Plz tell me the difference -- thanks

they are the same machine, they work the same, and oh yeah, it dhould tell you on the box it plays DVD/Video CD/SVCD/MP3/cd-r/cd-rw/

when they make a DVD player that can play DiVX files ill go ahead and get a new one.... until then my Samsung works good enough for me..... it plays all that shtuff.... cept DVD-R, never tested, but that'll prolly work too. *shrugs*

One time, my cousin Walter got this cat stuck in his ass. True story. He bought it at our local mall so the whole fiasco wound up on the news, it was embarrassing for my relatives and all, but the next week he did it again, different cat, same results, complete with another trip to the emergency room! So I run into him a week later in the mall and he’s buying another cat and I says to ‘em "Jesus Walt, what are you doing? You know your just gonna get this cat stuck up your ass too, why don’t you knock it off?" And he says to me "Brodie, how the hell else am I supposed to get the gerbil out?" My cousin was a weird guy....

JoE_DaDdY hit eject with ur dvd player remote i dare ya........oh u dont have one do you .. too bad or play a cvd on that bad boy. you cant can ya.. can u play a svcd with 9000kb brirate no ya cant can a apex too all that yest it can apex right now is the most powerfull dvd player out and if u get it upgraded with the progressive it kills the competition

lol btw it was xsvcd at 9000 brirate and my apex plays fine but they do have problems with them

i'd never buy an apex, i see far too much bitching about the damn things.

atm i like the choice between my 2 players.. one for quality, one for backups/DV footage i've burnt.

christ.. thinking about it, am i the only person who burns legal S/VCDs ??! ;P
