Review: Daredevil (2003)

Daredevil (2003) Review by Jeremy Beadle.

***WARNING!!!!*** ++ SPOLIERS!!!!! ++

As the moviegoing world has probably made you already aware, superhero movie are the 'in' thing, and now Daredevil is the latest movie to join the 'hero' fray. Ben Affleck plays our budding Lawyer turned hero out for justice on those who killed his father and, well, bad guys in general. I won't hold back on telling you this right now so you may wish to skip this part. Daredevil was complete and utter crap. I tried to like it, seriously i did, but the movie was completely laughable and well, a waste of 90 odd minutes of my life.

The problem lies with this; you've seen Batman, Spiderman and god knows how many movies of this ilk before. Daredevil has basically taken elements of all these movies and strung them together in to some sort of dysfunctional mish mash slugfest filled with millions of $'s of fancy effects.

"Fancy effects" you say? Yes, the movie is basically one big SFX fest, the director also has a penchant for badly coreographed combat sequences. The battle in the playground between Electra and Daredevil was completely laughable. Oh, and count how many times you see a slow-motion backflip in this movie. You could hell-near make a drinking game out of it. Add to this the awful script, ridiculous cheesey one-liners, cliched scenarios and scenes and well, that about sums this movie up. I guarantee you within the first 25mins you'll be itching to leave your seat, run from the theatre screaming and find something completely better to do with your life. If i see one more blue 'Daredevil P.O.V' shot couple with irritating echoey audio i think i'm going to cry.

The plot was tripe, acting was tripe, who the hell made the decision of casting Ben Affleck as Daredevil i'll never know. As soon as the movie finished playing i tossed the CD's in the bin. The only good thing about this movie was the special effects, which were far overused. And oh, heaps and heaps of pointless Batman/Spiderman-esque rooftop shots, hell even the opening credits look stolen from Spiderman. The soundtrack was pure shit, the opening ''team effort'' training music was simply laughable and to add something else i 'forgot' (yes the movie was that bad), the end fight was over in seconds and completely and utterly boring. Hell, when Kingpin and Daredevil were fighting, it was so poor i was laughing at the movie instead of going "ooh!" or "aah!".

Daredevil is a joke. I HATE this movie and quite frankly i NEVER EVER want to see it again. EVER.

At least your review matched what i assumed the movie would be...sometimes i do hate being right...other times, like this, i really could care less if i was right...had no desire to see it anyway....but kudos for letting me confirm my suspision

I wrote about 4 reviews trying to word how i felt about this movie just right... but it turns out i could't do that.. instead i'll tell you this straight out, in as few words as possible.

Movie Good, Ben Sucks, Elektra RULES, Bullseye Poorly developed character who could have Ruled, Kingpin Good. Action Mediocre, Dialogue Lame, Acting Good (Except Ben Affleck). Begining Gay, Ending Mediocre. Did i mention Jennifer Garner is HOTT!

btw Darkslide, i wanna commend you on your awesome avatar. And the fact you agree that Daredevil is one horiffic p.o.s movie.

I still feel dirty and used and utterly ashamed i wasted my time on it. :/

lol...respectful ur review is, but the movie did rock...and as I said in my review below...Movie's action was great..will do well.

mystic usually has good taste in movies, which is why i will not pay to see this movie, but when your bored to tears, it might suffice

I havent seen this flick yet, but my friends have and they said it was very disapointing. I wont bother seeing it, because these types of movies arent my style.
