SVCD stands for "Super VideoCD". A SVCD is very similiar to a VCD, it has the capacity to hold about 35-60 minutes on 74/80 min CDs of very good quality full-motion video along with up to 2 stereo audio tracks and also 4 removable subtitles. SVCDs use a compression standard called MPEG to store the video and audio. A SVCD can be played on many standalone DVD Players and of course on all computers with a DVD-ROM or CD-ROM drive with the help of a software based decoder / player. It is also possible to use menus and chapters, similiar to DVDs, on a SVCD and also simple photo album/slide shows with background audio. The quality of a SVCD is about the same, but usually better than SVHS tape based movies but it depends how many minutes you choose to store on a CD, less minutes/CD generaly means higher quality.

isn't this like a DVD workprint? is there such a thing?

Posted by FrAzZmAN on 04-13-2002 10:08 AM:

The release is quiet good if only they used a blur logo filter on it so it wouldn't be as distracting as that bloody counter, apart from that good release really

Tabled as VCD; hould be in SVCD list

Thank You Webmaster for a great site, and moderators for running a tight ship.
Suggest relocating Hart's War into SVCD table
extract from NFO:
source.......: dvd screener, format.......: ntsc svcd (480x480, 29.97fps)

harts war codec

what codec do i need to view this file? i have divx 5 already...3.1 alpha....anybody have this same problem? i just get no sound

Posted by ams30gts on 04-25-2002 01:15 PM:

im having viewing this movie. i already have divx5 codec and also 3.11 alpha.....can anybody help here?

Posted by ^Om3n on 04-25-2002 03:13 PM:

why are you asking questions about a divx rip/encode of the movie, this is a VCD (mpeg) release quality discussion/rating site...

if you are having problems playing some, obviously, not very well encoded avi then ask the person you got it from, or better yet, ask the person/group that encoded it...

there are a lot of codecs around, it may not even be divx...
